Wonderful Riad in the medina.

We stayed for 2 nights in July, and wish it had been more. The Riad is spectacular, and I think we found it the most beautiful of the handful we stayed or dined at. And our meal there was excellent as well. I think the lamb tagine may also have been the best of the many versions I had in Morocco over the 2 weeks we were there. The staff were helpful meeting us at the train station, and taking us to the riad, when we were definitely too tired for that challenge after the overnight flight. The also provided excellent guidance to the medina, and even walked us through the first few turns leading away from the Riad.

Wonderful!

We had originally booked another property and switched last minute - and boy were we glad we did! Beautifully restored property, very stylish (interior design buffs like me will appreciate it) while preserving the local culture. Professional and very hospitable team all-around. We had dinner one evening and the food was delicious; unfortunately, they only have one venue repeated every day, which is a bit limiting. We really loved the roof terrace, which included the added bonus of a gorgeous feline family with 5 adorable kittens, which made us love this place even more. Couldn't recommend it enough!

Nice but not great

This was our second visit to Morocco, but first time to fes. We stayed at a resort in Marrakech, but I wanted to have a Riad experience on this trip which is why we chose Karawan Riad based on reviews. The property is beautiful and very chic. Our room was awesome, we really enjoyed that part of it. I did find that the service was good, but I felt that from the managerial side, they lacked Moroccan hospitality and warmth we've experienced otherwise in our Morocco travels. I did have a Hamman treatment and Massage. The massage was excellent. However, my hammam experience was less than optimal. The girl who did my Hammam treatment was very nice, but a little rough and I had abrasions on my skin which are still healing. On my previous experience in Marrakech, they used sauna/heat which they didn't here for me, which I thought made the experience lacking. I didn't complain about the Hammam treatment because I didn't want to get her in trouble.
Food was average at best. We just had breakfast there.
In retrospect, I'd say our stay here was good not great, and probably wouldn't do it again.
