Very unpractical place, lacking basic amenities and poor service

We were given a room very far away from the reception / kitchen which was very unpractical especially with a small baby and having to come up to prepare bottles as there are no kettles in the room. We once ordered room service whihc arrived completely cold which is unacceptable given we were charged the same price as if we'd been to the restaurant ! Top top it off, we tried to book a babysitter for our 9 month old baby and were suprised by the very high cost we were asked to pay(€ 15 per hour) - but asking to pay upfront at the reception without even having met the babysitter was especially disgraceful and definetely crossed a line.
Other issues included the small number of electrical sockets in the room, some of them were not functional, the phone wasn't working either.

Casual elegance in an historic gem

Being remembered by staff upon arrival at a hotel certainly starts your visit off on the right foot. The juxtaposition of the extremely modern rooms and ancient palace public rooms is delightfully perfect !!

Lovely hotel, a few tweaks would make it perfect

We stayed here for a week in early April. With hindsight 3-4 nights is enough given there’s very little to estoi but we really enjoyed our stay. It does give you a good base to explore the region which was what we did.

The room was spacious and light with daily cleaning. The parking is free and easy to use and google maps got us there no problem.

Thankfully we were only b&b as the restaurant menu for lunch and dinner did not change the whole time we were there!!!

Things that would get this to five stars:

1. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. As a minimum, a kettle and some mugs.

2. An iron either in the room or can be borrowed from reception. I refused to pay €4 per shirt to get them ironed which was the only option given to us.

3. Better tasting coffee at breakfast. Given the price of our stay I didn’t feel we should have to pay each morning for a nice coffee. What they give you free is watered down instant coffee.

4. Some dishes of the day or some kind of variety in the restaurant. Having the same lunch and dinner menu for a whole week doesn’t scream 5* luxury. There are some nice restaurants in walking distance and some lovely ones if you’re happy to drive so not a total disaster.

Lovely hotel

We enjoyed our stay very much. It is grand, with lots of old world charm. It is also very modern and well furnished. Breakfast is good and so is the restaurant. We dined there every night. While it is not in the middle of town, access is easy by car. Parking is not a problem at all.

Close to perfection

A perfect (and unique!) mix of the rococo style of an old palace and state-of-the-art-art modern architecture, spacious and very comfortable rooms, a wonderful outdoor swimming pool located on a wood deck overlooking orange tree gardens, and fine cuisine. A very nice experience, though some of the staff members (both at the front desk and in the restaurant) would benefit from being more friendly and relaxed. In contrast, the cleaning and the spa ladies were delightful
