How to Get There
We fondly remember our stay at this hotel and probably should have stayed longer to really enjoy all that it offers. The historic buildings were on display during a tour by one of the hotel staff. It wasn't the best tour but that's a minor quibble. Some of the highlights were an ancient olive tree, the chapel, wine cellar and cloister. Our room was fine and the view lovely. Staff was friendly and competent. The room rate was very reasonable and the included breakfast was quite nice.
The history is what makes a stay here special. The knowledgable staff takes guests daily on a tour of building and chapel. The complimentary daily wine tastings are also lovely. Rooms are large and comfortable if a bit dated. Realize you are in the countryside not Lisbon so the 5 star rating is not exactly the same. Be aware you are a few miles outside city center so unless you have a car it is a 8to 10 € cab ride each way. A lovely and enjoyable stay.
First off this hotel is a destination with gem around every corner. Beautiful gardens, pools and the restaurants and spa are top notch! There is an amazing curch on the grounds and an old tree. the hotel is nice and clean. we had one meal there that was a top three meal on our trip through Portugal and France. the thing that made our stay was of course the service! One fellow in particular that worked the outdoor pool bar was specifically amazing. A lot of times when you go to 5 star hotels, the staff is a little bit stuck up, not Alindo Miguel. This man was personable, funny, a good bartender and professional. I have managed 4 hotels in my life, worked in fine dining, basically made a career out of unmatched customer service. This man gets it. A job well done should be recognized, and he was the difference between a good stay and an unmatched experience. Please pass along my gratitude to Alindo Miguel. Bravo sir!
