Hip but not haughty, the Avalon is a design hotel—which means every detail was carefully planned. The 101 rooms are paragons of mod minimalism and have bathrobes, slippers, flatscreen TVS, and, in some cases, a bathtub in the center of the room. The same care is lavished on drinks at the popular bar and the Swedish specialties in the restaurant. Guests who love the modern décor and funky vibe linger on site despite the temptations of Göteburg’s nightlife all around them.
In the Area
Smack in the heart of Kungsportsplaten, the famed nightlife district, the Avalon is perfectly situated for exploring the city’s music and bar scene. But there’s plenty to see in the daytime, too. The hotel is within walking distance of Baltespannarparken, a popular park that hosts a skating rink in winter; the Göteborg City Museum; the Maritiman Museum on board a fleet of historic ships; and the Göteborg Opera. It’s also deliciously close to Östermalms Saluhall, the city’s historic food hall, so you can taste the best the city has to offer by day and listen to its finest music by night.
How to Get There
Nice special design hotel. Friendly service. Nice paintings all around the building. Cosy seats in bar and lobby. Breakfast is really good and constant fresh. Hotel is situated nicely in the shopping area and has a nice terrace!
Will for sure come back😄
Really good quality hotel in the heart of Gothenburg. The bath in my room was just amazing! It was my second and, hopefully, not last stay here. Breakfast buffet was also nice as usually, but it could include one portion yogurt as well.
If you love Scandinavian design you will love this hotel. Rooms are relatively small vs the bigger international hotel standards but beautifully appointed. High quality as you would expect to n Sweden. Great location for Restaurants and easy transport links, staff really helpful. Airport is 20-30 mins away. Taxi c.450SEK. Some rooms have steps down to them so care required if any mobility issues.
I have stayed here a few times, most recently in August last year. They're proactive when it comes to recognize their loyal status guests.
The hotel is quite small, but this is one of the reasons why I love it! It is quiet, yet very centrally located. The rooms are nice, lots of high quality amenities. Bathrooms are great, large bathtubs and separate showers, Bvlgari soaps, etc. The only thing I would like them to fix is the shower doors, they dont prevent the water from leaking out on the bathroom floor. I have stayed in a number of rooms at this hotel, and I had this issue in every room. There is a pool on the roof, but I have never tried it.
Breakfast is great, and of good quality. Bar is very nice! Nice staff, food is good, and great cold beers. In the summer you can also sit outside :)
Will definately stay here again!
Nice and cosy Hotel: great design, amazing breakfast - continental style with a Swedish touch on every detail. Location is ok. Staff is extremely nice. The Hotel corridors could be improved. And the distance from elevator to room at the back as well. In addition, temperature control per room would also be an upgrade. And the hotel needs a gym room.
