The Lowdown

The Balearic isle of Mallorca in the Med makes for a holiday treat all year round, with a balmy climate, glittering seas, soft sandy beaches and the easy-going nature of the locals blending a cocktail of pure pleasure from start to finish. Stay in the dazzling modern-meets-retro OD Port Portals hotel, near the swanky Puerto Portals yachting marina, and you can add a host of top-notch bars, restaurants and boutiques into the mix.
Mingle with the jet set or simply retreat to the tranquil surrounds of the hotel, the work of renowned designers Victor Rahola Aguadé and Mayte Matutes. With its Mondrianesque facade, hand-picked designer furniture and quirky sculptures, the retro-style lobby could have stepped from the pages of a glossy interiors magazine.
Enjoy a lazy breakfast on the terrace until midday, take a dip in the small but perfectly formed pool, loll on a day bed, work out in the gym or book a massage. Later, ascend to the aptly named SkyBar for a sundowner on the roof terrace, complete with fabulous views. It will come as little surprise to learn OD Port Portals boasts a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Really lovely hotel with attentive staff.

Sat by the pool writing this review as still here until Thursday. Lovely hotel with friendly and competent staff. Breakfast is lovely, with a varied buffet and hot breakfast cooked on request which is a nicer experience than a hot buffet.

Rooms have everything you would need, are cleaned beautifully every day and have an amazing smell after it’s been cleaned! The whole hotel has lovely smells all around!

Pool area is very well kept and towels are provided. The pool is small but this just means that it gets warmer as the day progresses and you don’t want to get out!

Really lovely area and a short stroll from the port which is brilliant for a spot of evening people watching. We’ve had a lovely time in this hotel so far and it’s our second time to this area which has everything you want from a relaxing holiday.

Lovely stay

Clean and well decorated and spacious rooms. All is new so it’s a modern place to stay. We had great sea views from our room which was lovely. The breakfast is super thanks to the a al cart options that are included in the breakfast package. All the staff was really helpful and caring for our stay. We rented a car from the hotel which was very convenient. The only downside is the pool area which really didn’t effect our stay since we had plans all days. But if your looking to hang in the hotel by the pool then I’m not sure this is the place. Absolutely recommend this hotel!

Perfect choice for weekend away with friends

Having stayed in this part of the island for nearly 20 years this was my first visit to OD and the first with friends not family. Location is so convenient (only 20 mins by taxi from the airport/approx 30 euro) and once there all the popular places are within 10 mins reach by taxi and of course the marina and fantastic Oratori beach less than 10 mins walk away. This is by no means a "resort" type hotel so don't expect big sun terrace, pool and lots of facilities. Yes there's a pool and surrounding terrace area but its small with only a handful of loungers. Comparing it to other 4 star hotels I've stayed in around the same area, OD is certainly lacking in this department. That's not a criticism though as I knew to expect this when I booked and we had already planned to be be out during the days anyway. Stayed in the delux rooms (would have booked standard but sold out when booking) which were good and had great views from being on the upper floor. Quite a small room for being "delux" in my opinion but it was nicely decorated, spotlessly clean, brilliant air con and a modern bathroom with walk in shower (even if the shower flooded every time because the sill below the door wasn't high enough - so often the case in walk in hotel showers!). Breakfast was good but quite pricey at 18 euro pppn because the buffet selection was fairly small, all be it what was there was good quality as was the cooked to order hot food (eggs and all the usuals). All the staff were fantastic and super friendly. We had an early flight back so they arranged a takeaway breakfast on check out for us which was much appreciated (although we had already paid our 18 euros each to be fair!). So in summary, probably not the place to go for a week's holiday sat by the pool but the perfect choice for a few days away with friends for a day at the beach, visit to a beach club and nights out in the marina and Magaluf...all of which we managed to achieve in a thoroughly enjoyable 3 night weekend away which will now become an annual event. So we look forward to seeing you next year!
