How to Get There
We (my wife and me) spent 10 days (11 - 20 July) at the Hotel Iberostar Playa de Palma.
From the beginning we were warmly welcomed, and introduced into the hotel services with patience and smile.
We accommodated quickly and the room (twin bed) with balcony, offered a great view to the sea.
All the facilities - to choose only Wi-Fi, cable, air conditioning - were perfect.
The room cleaning was also as expected.
The hotel has one pool, but the beach - very good - is in its very close proximity, so many of the customers (including us) chose this second alternative.
The sea was almost all the time quiet, warm, and not deep.
I left the cuisine at the end. It was just great.
It was normally to find such a richness of food, considering the hotel rank.
But what impressed us was the personnel care, smile, and kindness.
In the last day something happened that was certainly unusual. Since our flight was in the evening, we had to leave the room and spend almost six hours in the lobby.
Close to the end of those hours we were approached by a senior manager and invited to have dinner - at the expense of the hotel.
That deeply impressed us - we realized we were not just customers, we were friends.
It's taken me a while to post this review as I don't like to give negative hotel reviews and rarely do. This Iberostar is upmarket, stylish and had all the mod cons but wasn't particularly child friendly. In hindsight we should have stayed at the Cristina hotel across the road. I was told (wrongly it turned out) that there would be access to a kids club and babysitting service. Neither of these options were available when we arrived, my daughter wasn't old enough for the kids club (at the Cristina, not this hotel) and no official babysitting service was available. To top it all I had my jewellery stolen from my room and received very little sympathy from staff. This shouldn't happen in a hotel of this calibre. I made a complaint but nothing came of it. It's really put me off this chain of hotels and put a dampener on the holiday, and will make me think twice before returning to Mallorca.
We returned to the hotel this August as we had such a great time in April. We stayed half board and couldnt fault the food selection and quality.We used the fitness suite and spa, which was also good.Great pool area.Above all, the staff are excellent throughout the hotel. Helpful and polite at all times.Also a good location to visit Palma for shopping.
We have just visited the Iberostar Playa de Palma for 8 nights at the cost of £6100 ( not including flights) half board for 2 adults and 2 children. I have never left a review.. but I felt like this one I had too. We are lucky enough to take holidays every 6 -8 weeks and I feel I have never been anywhere so over priced as here. Yes the hotel is clean and modern, but yet so basic. No amenities in the room other than a basic shampoo , conditioner and body wash, beds hard and uncomfortable, we stayed in a family room and for an upgrade it would of cost around £2000 more just for a better sea view but room would be the same. There is only 1 restaurant that you can use on half board ( breakfast , lunch or dinner) or all inclusive, buffet style , you have to walk round many times to find a table, not taken to a table and men have to wear long trousers and the variety of food is pretty much the same each night other than a different carving of fish or meat. Which you have to queue for. So we often ate out as was bored of the same food. I’m so glad I didn’t pay another £1000 for all inclusive
Although we have had a nice holiday I actually feel I have wasted a lot of money on what I would call a 3 star service and basic facilities hotel in a 5 star setting.
We checked out at 11am after asking for a late check out which they couldn’t do as was full, as we are not flying home till 7pm, which is not a problem but then we were told we can’t use the buffet for lunch as our half board programme finishes when we check out. I have never been to a hotel where they don’t honour lunch / dinner on the last day ?
I really don’t like to leave a negative review but after spending just over £8000 ( including spending money for going out) on 8 nights in palma plus flights I just feel deflated 😐

On arrival we were impressed with the look of the hotel and we had a warm welcome.
On our first night we were heading off for dinner and we were approached by a member of staff who explained to us that we could have a free taster at the a la cart restaurant we asked her if we could try it that night as it was our first night and she said yes.when we finished our meal we were asked how we were going to pay for the meal we explained that the lady said it was a free taster,they told us to get that you had to book it a day before and there was a special menu for that and was changed over 100 euros, we found that we were a little misled. food was average.
We had the star prestige rooms which enabled us to use the rooftop with infinity pool and snacks and drinks which were free,however if you are not full board you are limited with the choice of drinks,snacks are sandwiches fruit and nuts,another negative is that there is no toilet on the roof so you had to either go to your room or go all the way down to ground floor.
We were on the 6th floor our room was spacious and the sea view was great,our 2 teenage sons were next door to us which was much smaller with hardly any wardrobe space and was designed for a disabled person,after speaking to reception they said they would be moved in 2 days,considering we were only here for 7 nights we were a bit disappointed.
The rooms were very clean and the housekeepers did a great job of cleaning the rooms however our sheets were not changed,so we had to take them off ourselves for them to change the sheets.
Shower is great although a few of the tiles were chipped and the silicone had mould on it.
Entertainment below average,
The bar couldn’t make cocktails,
So we went out to local bars which served great cocktails.
Loved the beach,
Overall we had a great holiday,this hotel is very close to being a 5 star and would still recommend it as we had a very relaxing holiday.
