Overview

A gorgeous sea-view suite at a spa hotel in beautiful Igalo, set right on Montenegro's glittering coastline

The Lowdown

The spa resort of Igalo, in Montenegro, has long been favoured by those in the know seeking to benefit from the legendary curative powers of its natural minerals and mud. They’re also attracted by the balmy year-round climate, oodles of sunny days and warm, shallow waters. Palmon Bay Hotel and Spa is a shiny addition to the resort’s hotel scene. Making a bold, modern statement on the seafront, its shimmering reflective glass soaks up the mesmerising vista of Boka Kotorska Bay at every turn.
The hotel is a short stroll away from the sea, where you find an exclusive private beach where you can lounge about on a sunbed on the pebbles or terrace (accessible from May 2016). Make sure you wallow in the calm water too and on chillier days, there’s a perfectly inviting indoor swimming pool back at the hotel, alongside a spa. Elsewhere you’ll find three restaurants and two bars, one with a terrace with spectacular views across the water.

Bit of a let down
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Don't waste your money upgrading to a side sea view as you will have to lean off the balcony to glimpse it. The basic rooms are tiny and they gave me dairy after I told them I am allergic. Plus side, the rest of the hotel is really nice, as are the staff.

What a hotel

Absolutely loved this hotel, couldnt say a bad word about it. The food, drinks and service was always to the best standard. The room was large, roomy and cleaned daily. The pool area was kept clean, drinks offered around the pool very often. Perfect hotel for a couple or family.

Excellent choice!

Besides touring Montenegro, we wanted to visit Dubrovnik, and Palmon Bay turned out to be an excellent choice. The hotel has very nice services, including an excellent and generous breakfast buffet, a lovely spa, and a private beach. In general it is in a lovely location on the Bay, near the promenade in Igalo, a quiet town north of Herzog Novi. The room with the sea view was a bit smaller than we would have liked, but on the other hand, it was comfortable and clean. The staff is lovely, and we can warmly recommend the hotel for travelers who want peace and quiet after a long day touring,

Lovely hotel shame about the food

This hotel is perfect.
Rooms are clean and modern, bed is comfortable and toiletries are kept well topped up.
The grounds are well kept, the location is perfect, just a short walk to beach, the scenery is stunning the staff are friendly and very helpful. The hotel itself I would give 5stars.

It’s a real shame because I feel the food really lets the hotel down.
Thankfully we were only on a bed and breakfast basis, there are plenty of good, reasonably priced eating places in walking distance just outside the hotel.

Breakfast was a difficult experience.
Firstly most of the hot food I tried was cold, and absolutely swimming in grease.
Among the hot breakfast vegetables were Brussels sprouts (I kid you not)sweet corn and courgettes covered in garlic.
There were red peppers cooked with onions and chips .
All the above perfectly acceptable if served hot, for lunch/dinner, but not breakfast.

There were daily trays of prepared omelette, swimming in a layer of oil.

If you have to eat low fat options then you would really struggle finding any suitable hot food.
Cereals limited to what I call junk breakfast,
They have trays of cold meats that are not refrigerated so are room temperature.
For me a complete breakfast nightmare.
The food I would rate just 2stars
My advice to hotel manager
Do something about the food, it’s really letting your hotel down.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Spent 5 nights recently, on arrival received upgrade to a suite with sea view - which was very nice.
The room was new & well maintained with a large king size double bed, long balcony and adjacent "work" (?) room with couch and long desk, The wardrobe was in this area.
Whilst being modern & clean - there was no art on the walls - therefore giving a coldish atmosphere.
Lights were ample - although the control logic between areas was weird ....
Wifi in the room is from the TV hotspot - which is a good idea - but passwords can be a challenge (as those written differed to the ones needed)
Bathroom is large & with all mod cons ... EXCEPT no air extractor .... hence any odours left in the bathroom take a while to dissipate!
Water pressure was just ok ... and we would have liked a bit more.

Restaurants (roof terrace & main ground floor) were nice, prices for evening buffet was reasonable 15 Euro per person, food & choice was ample & tasty also for breakfast which is above the par of similar rated hotels.
Parking is free and in the hotel carpark,
The spa is very nice with a great pool, Jacuzzi & saunas - all gratis for guests.
Massage was well done with nice manner
Outdoor pool with small beach is also well designed & a nice area to sit
Staff are friendly and efficient.
So all in all a good stay - and well recommended.
