How to Get There
The Columbus has a great location (next to the heliport), and it is very stylish (though conservative) inside.
It looks the same, as when I was here first time 15 years ago. If the interior really is the same, they choose really good materials way back.
From outside, the building looks dull, almost ugly.
Room and bed just perfect.
The concierge saved my day when I arrived late and very late for my dinner with my colleagues. He instantly, before I checked in, started the hotel’s minibus and took me the 5 minute’s drive to the restaurant.
The breakfast was a totally other story. Service disorganized but worse: very little to choose from, and several dishes was empty. And remained so for my breakfast window. Far below acceptable for a hotel in this category.
I was speaking to my wife today and worked out I’ve been coming to the Columbus for over 15 years! It’s the first port of call in Monaco and I’ve only stayed somewhere else if they’ve been full. The Concierge is fantastic. They’re knowledgable and helpful. Polite and efficient with local knowledge and contacts second to none. Patrick heads up the Concierge along with Jennifer, both are brilliant but to be fair, the team are all good. Since the recent refurbishment it’s much more comfortable. Could do with pay per view movies on the TV but this would be excessive whinging!! The hotel now has a bar again, great move. Years ago, the Columbus Bar was the coolest place to be and it may well be again given the quality of the bar staff. Very professional and helpful. I can’t recommend the place enough but it’s really thanking the staff for being so good. Room service, turndown and housekeeping are all excellent. Location near the heliport is good and the views are really nice over either the sea or the Princess Grace rose garden. The shuttle to take you to town is a bonus too as no struggling to park. This is very well managed, well run, cool and friendly hotel.
We were recommended this hotel from a friend of ours who has stayed a couple of times.
We stayed in one of the suites which was spacious and very modern
As the hotel knew it was our honeymoon they decorated the room in red petals and provided us with a bottle of champagne - such a lovely gesture.
The reception area has recently been refurbished and looks ultra cool and also has a bar area and although we never had a drink in there - it looked lovely.
Breakfast was a buffet style and we only had it once but was nice to sit on the terrace and people watch!
Added bonus was a shuttle that can take you into Monte Carlo - we did that a couple of times but we did walk and that took around 20 mins (and an hour coming back as we got lost in the mountain) hahaha - Although it was a lovely (long) walk!
The best thing about the hotel was the staff - everyone was so nice and super friendly and professional especially the concierge team - who would go above and beyond with tips and recommendations for beaches/restaurants and trips to nearby Nice (we took the train and it's a really lovely journey).
I would definitely stay at the Columbus hotel and would recommend it.
The room was stylish, large, very clean and comfortable, and well appointed. The bathroom was bright and clean. We had a large balcony with table and chairs with a great view overlooking the Princess Grace gardens.
The pool (which is outdoors and separate from the hotel - about a one-two minute walk) is large, overlooks the water, got excellent sun exposure during the day, and had sufficient loungers available.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and we also took advantage of the hotel shuttle to drive us to the casino one day. There were numerous good restaurants just down the street and in the area.
I stayed there together with a friend during a motorbike trip to the Cote d'Azur.
I liked the Hotel very much. Located close to the water a few steps from the old harbor.
Quite close a a view good restaurants and places to drink and eat. Breakfast is excellent, personnel motivated and the rooms state of the art and rather spacious. There are plenty of possibilities for parking in the vicinity (unfortunately the Hotel owned parking space was booked out when we came).
There is a heliport just a few steps away. Noise, however, wasn't such a pain because they stopped flying during night hours.
Price wise is it absolutely fair, compared to other hotels in MC.
