Endless Annoying Gym Building Repair Work
Walter K

The hotel's gym is rigged out with a broad range of brand new and diverse machines and equipment. Effectively, you have in there everything you need for a full-body workout. The place is kept immaculately clean and tidy. The gym's crew is friendly, knowledgable and customer-oriented. They are always keen to assist you in your workout sessions. However, there is a gigantic issue that is upsetting and ruins the whole experience: the gym's building is all the time subject to noisy & dusty repair works or endless renovation. There is always something wrong with the building that results in significant chunks of it being shut down and submitted to repairs that reduce the available space for guests, kick up clouds of dust throughout the day and produce drilling & hammering disturbing noise. The repair work always takes much longer than it is initially informed to and when one set of work ends, a new commence. I have been a member of the gym for nearly two years, and have experienced it for most of the period. Currently, the pool area is closed, the adjacent workout studio room is filled with dust despite the cleaning crew mops it up several times a day and half of the weight training area has been shut off. We are left with one-third of the original workout area to exercise. I sincerely hope that this unfortunate situation is brought to an end soon as otherwise, it is a great place to work out.

Satisfaction at San Anton

Having stayed in St Julians on previous Malta trips, we fancied something a little different 'far from the madding crowd' and away from the busy tourist locations. San Anton is primarily a residential area, both quiet and safe, and is relatively central on the island; its location is mainly tourist free, apart from those visiting the near-by San Anton Gardens which sees a steady flow of visitors and is worth a visit when resident at the hotel. San Anton's location means that travelling anywhere on the island usually takes a maximum 30 mins driving, so it's a great location to operate from. Local buses and the free hotel bus offers alternative journey methods, so most needs are catered for. As we arrived on a late flight, we pre-booked a transfer via the hotel (around 28E I recall) which removed some of the arrival hassle, albeit a taxi would likely be less expensive. Latterly we hired a car, with free parking available in the hotel grounds (small number of spaces) or using a free public car-park across the road from the hotel. The hotel opened in the late 1970s and while it boasts a 5 star rating, some may feel its interior is growing slightly dated. Our room was furnished quite traditionally and was spotlessly clean; some others have mentioned the bathroom size which, although not huge, is quite acceptable. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, with attentive waiting staff who were always willing to assist. The outside pool area is well equipped with loungers etc, however, the inside pool/spa area is currently closed and will not reopen until early 2020 (Feb?) after extensive redevelopment. A special mention and thanks goes to Celine, the Guest Relations Manager who assisted with some extra arrangements to mark a special occasion during our stay. The ultimate test is whether we would return and the answer is a resounding yes!

Great hotel for a relaxing summer break. Rooms are a good size and clean. Plenty of bar and restaurant choice in the hotel and surrounding area.
Have been using this hotel for the last 5 years. Looking forward to going in 2020 to see the new spa facilities.
