How to Get There
The hotel is in a fabulous location- near to Rialto bridge, St Marco square, Palazzo Ducale and easily accessible to the other great attractions. We booked a Secret Escape deal which was a little misleading with its photos, showing a light and airy room. In fact the deal is for a superior room, which is also misleading as it is the entry level room. Superior implies there is a category below, ie standard. There isn’t. As a hotel contractor for a luxury tour operator, I have seen hotels adopt this practice, which is unfortunate and doesn’t set the right expectations for guests. If you’ve booked a superior room - these vary greatly. Apparently 13-20m2. As you can see from the photo, you really couldn’t get much smaller for a hotel of this category. Our room was sandwiched between a lift and opposite two staircases, had no view other than a wall and A/c unit. It was stuffy and quite claustrophobic. The A/C doesn’t turn on in winter, so we had to open the window and suffer mosquitos keeping us awake. The beds are also quite hard and two pillows are feather and two foam - so also quite firm with the bed too (king bed).
Breakfast was a lovely surprise, and offered a good selection. I would rate this as a 3 star not 4.5 star. Staff are incredibly friendly though and it’s so easy to get to and from the airport. San Angelo on the orange route via a water taxi transfer.
Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. The rooms were beautiful but more importantly they were comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was really pretty good. We enjoyed our stay.
Great location, Wonderful Greeting and Perfect Attention with smiles from every staff member.
We had booked a deal for a Standard room which was well equipped, freshly furnished, ample in size and comfortable.
The bathroom was especially comfortable and warm.
Small down side was the lack of any view, room 602 looks into a back alley. Let's be honest the late deal didn't offer anything other than what we got, so buyers think ahead, spend if it's important.
The quality of the hotel, staff, location, breakfast etc etc, SMILES too made up for the lack of a canal window.
Stayed here recently for carnival weekend . Hotel is in great location on the Grand Canal between Rialto bridge and St Marks square. A vaparetto stop is right outside and very easy to get around. Room was nice and a reasonable size . We had a part view which was on the ground floor .
Breakfast room got very busy with a reasonable selection.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
We got a private water taxi from the airport - expensive but great start to the trip . Pulls up right outside hotel.
I have been waiting a long time to go to Venice and it exceeded all my expectations. We arrived in the middle of carnival so it was busy but exciting . Lots of people dressed in costumes and masks added to the grandeur. Our hotel was perfectly situated to walk or ride on the water buses with a stop literally right outside . Wish I could go back tomorrow .
