How to Get There
We stayed at the hotel some times before (then we always had quiet rooms viewing the sea) - this time (we stayed middle of February) we booked a room looking to the street (for one night before the cruise),trusting to the description of the rooms on the website of the hotel that all have aircondition - so we could the windows keep closed and let the noise of the street outside - but big surprise: the aircondition promised was switched off ( the staff at the reception told us that they never switch it on at this time of the year) and the room was very hot and stuffy . No chance to get fresh air by opening the window at night as the noise from the street was too loud. So we had a bad night!
We think it is not okay to promise airconditioned rooms - when the air condition is switched off part of the year - we were very disappointed (also at the unfriendly reactions of the reception staff when we complained about it.
This was a special occasion with for my wife and myself. Everything nice as expected. The seaside room was extraordinary, not cheap but once each 3 or 4 months is worthed; to be suggested for a romantic weekend
The staff is very kind and helpful. The rooms are very clean and we had a room to seaside, beautiful view over the bay. With the open window you hear the sound of the sea and no other noise. We were there in November, so the beach was closed, but you can go to a walk along the beach.
You can see that the hotel is not new (especially the rooms). We have reserved the room an hour before our arrival. When we got there we were devastated. The room was strange, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, it smelled bad and there was a monstrous noise from the street.
We wanted to change to another room and pay extra for the sea view because there would be a lot quieter. They told us that only a presidential room is available (which was of course much more expensive than our). At the same time, we got information that all normal rooms with sea view are already booked - what wasn't possible. We saw a few of them available at the same time on booking.
Finally, we decided to stay in the hotel and go to sleep. Of course, it was impossible because of the noise from the street. We waste our time and money there.
I will only add that we were after the season so the hotel was not full.
If you are looking for a hotel near Savona, this is a great place for a stop over. Very friendly staff, excellent food and the best breakfast that I have ever seen in Italy. The rooms are basic, but fine for a stop over and very good value for money. Savona itself is nothing great so you can relax at the hotel before going back out on the road.
