How to Get There
We spent a long weekend at this hotel on the Mediterranean Sea and loved it. The rooms are simple, but well appointed. We had one with a great view (number 9) of the cala (cove) and the two islands you can see from the hotel. The room had a nice little private patio for two. Bathroom was updated and big, with fluffy towels. We spent a day on the rocks soaking in the sun and swimming in the sea (note, this is not owned by the hotel, but is a separate outfit that rents you a spot under an umbrella with two chairs - food and drinks are available from a small bar, but you cannot charge them to the hotel). We also spent a day at the pool, which was wonderful - great view, comfortable chairs, attentive service. All the staff we engaged with were helpful and friendly - whether we were asking for towels, booking our dinner reservation or asking for other info. In fact the front desk was great about helping deal with the mosquitos - we asked about where we could buy bug spray (mosquitos were biting us after the sun went down) and they gave us a bottle they had behind the counter.
We had a half-board plan which meant we had breakfast and dinner included in our rate. The restaurant at the hotel served great a great dinner, with a menu that changed each day and offered fish and meat dishes. The breakfasts were wonderful, good selection of hot and cold foods, attentive waiters bringing your choice in coffee drinks (note if you order an omelet it is not included in the free breakfast). All the wait staff we dealt for breakfast and dinner were great - professional, friendly, and helpful.
It was great to watch the sunset from the bar/lawn/patio area, they have a lot of tables and some other lawn furniture available. During our stay they had a singer/keyboard player playing music for two nights, which was great to listen to before and after dinner, BUT, was a problem at 11 the first night when we were ready for bed and yet could still hear the music. I would say that was the only downside to our room location, being near the music on two nights. The second night we just planned our day so that we would be up late enough so that it would be done when we were ready to go to sleep (midnight).
The views are amazing (we could watch the water, boats going by and birds flying around for hours). We loved the resort, would recommend it to others and would go back again if we have the chance.
We have now been twice to Hotel Torre do Cala Piccola and Booker again for next year. The hotel looks out over the Mediterranean to Isola dei Giglio and a far off Elba, the colours of the sea and sky changing with the weather but always beautiful. Our room had a balcony with views of the rocky coastline and the sea, and had just been refurbished, with a very comfortable bed, well appointed shower room and Sky TV for the essential watching of Wimbledon finals week. The room was cleaned as we were at breakfast most mornings. The food here is excellent, with plenty of choice if you are staying a week. There is an emphasis on fresh produce, with fresh fish offered daily, and lots of salads for lunchtime. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, English is spoken (some better than others), and like all Italians, they really try to understand you if you speak their language, however badly. The horizon pool is a joy, with a fab view over the sea, especially busy in the evening after a hard days sightseeing and quiet in the morning for those looking to just relax. Everything is busier at the weekends, with live music accompanying your aperativo. The entrance road to the hotel is not easily found on sat nav so watch out for the odd sign pointing you in the right direction. We did a day trip to Isola Dei Giglio which the hotel arranged - very easy taxi to the port, ferry and taxi tour on the island. Recommended - but don’t get stranded for two hours at the castle as it does not leave enough time for the port and the beach!
Just stayed for a friend's wedding and had an absolutely perfect time. The staff was all very helpful and friendly, the views astonishing and I wish I could have that breakfast every single day. Make sure to try the rolls with the pumpkin seeds. Make sure to splurge for the deluxe sea view room. You will not be disappointed.
This is a fantastic hotel with impeccable 5 Star service. Located on top this is truly a fabulous place to stay when you visit San Stephano.
In addition, the Service is fantastic .Overall every member of the staff in the hotel we spoke to were extremely helpful and could not do enough to please. The management team has done a fantastic job in getting the staff motivated and working together as a team - we really were well looked after. Stefania the hotel manager makes sure she meets and greets every guest at the hotel whether during breakfast, sunset Aperetivo and dinner. She goes out of her way to ensure she knows all her guests. It was a great pleasure to meet her.
The restaurant where both breakfast and dinner are served has very high quality service. For two days in a row , we ordered the fresh red shrimps with buratta cheese. It was yummy. There are also lots of other interesting places to chill out around the hotel like by the pool or at the outside terrace.
The outside terrace has the best sunset you can ever see.
The room is very spacious with great views and the bathroom is modern. The bed was very comfortable and we never failed to get a good night's sleep.
For beach, they have a shuttle that took us down to the beach in the morning and picked us back.
Highest standards with amazing views and Amazing service. Would love to go back again and again
This hotel looked lovely on-line, but was even more beautiful in person. The views from our room, the pool, the main dining room, and the outdoor lunch restaurant were all gorgeous. This is a hidden oasis, away from the crowds and main tourist hotspots of Tuscany. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious. We had an amazing 5-course tasting menu, dining al fresco overlooking the Mediterranean one evening, all for a resonable price---magical! This property feels like a secluded resort, for those in the know. I feel fortunate to have found it, and am wondering how I'd never heard of it before. It is a quiet and serene cliffside hotel overlooking some Tuscan islands, with no other hotels nearby. There is both an indoor and outdoor bar, where one can watch the sun set over the islands. We had an early morning departure, so as to miss the breakfast buffet, but the staff went out of their way to prepare a continental breakfast for us to have in the bar adjacent to the lobby. We were very appreciative of this gesture. If we are fortunate enough to return to the Tuscan coast, we will definitely stay here again. A Mediterranean idyll!!
