How to Get There
It is many years that we go to the hotel a La Commedia. Every year since 2008 we find the same professionalism and the same care for customers. The hotel is in a superb location, staff amazng, and rooms always at the top.
Thank you to all and do not change a thing !! see you next year ....
Arrived 7th Feb 2019 for three night break. We booked a classic double room, but on arrival we were upgraded. (Bonus)
The staff at the hotel were amazing, polite, and only to eager to assist.
The hotel itself was absolutely spotless, rooms immaculate, added bonus on the turndown service at night with complimentary bottles of water. The only thing missing for us, was the lack of coffee making facilities in the room, but having done a bit of research before leaving the UK, we already knew, so took our own travel kettle.
Breakfast was continental, with amazing coffee.
I cant recommend this hotel enough, it was absolutely fabulous, and the best part was being 5 minutes walk from our drop off point at Rialto, and so easy to find.
Top class hotel, excellent service, if we visit Venice again we will definitely book this hotel,
I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel A La Commedia for a long weekend at the end of January. To get there, I flew into Venice's Marco Polo airport, and then got the Alilaguna water taxi (the Orange Line / Linea Arancia) to the Rialto Bridge (it was 25 Euros for a return, valid for 30 days). Once at the Rialto bridge stop, it was a short walk (not even 5 mins) to the entrance of Hotel A La Commedia.
Worth noting that there is a Co-op & a Spar nearby (the Co-op is within a stone's throw from the hotel) so you can pick up any food / drink / items there that you may need.
The hotel itself is gorgeous inside, a lovely modern boutique-type of feel to it. The staff are incredibly professional & friendly & spoke very good English so checking in was a pleasure. One of the team took me to my room & showed me how to work the various items & explained breakfast etc (they do offer room service as well as the normal buffet breakfast).
The hotel room had a lovely large comfortable bed, a mini-bar (which wasn't particularly cold, so not particularly effective as a fridge), a TV, an en-suite bathroom, desk, wardrobes, and air conditioning. I have to add that they don't provide any drinks facilities there, so I'm glad I took my travel kettle & my mug & teabags. They do however put a bottle of water in your room each night as part of the turn down service, where they also leave a little chocolate box on the bed for you (see my pics!).
One thing to point out - they ask you to leave your room key at reception whenever you go out, and then you collect it when you go back again. This means you don't have the panic of worrying about losing it!
When you leave the hotel you find you're immediately in some charming alleyways - really pretty. It's then a short walk (10 mins or so) down to Piazza Sa Marco (St Mark's Square).
Breakfast is served between 7.00 - 10.30am (I think!); it's a buffet breakfast so you take a seat wherever you choose and one of the waiters / waitresses will ask whether you'd like a hot drink & will take your room number.
Then you're free to feast as much as you like! At the end of your breakfast, they bring you a little dish with strawberries & a creamy custard - a really nice touch that just adds to the joy of staying there.
I was there for 3 nights & couldn't fault the place - it's also in-land enough to avoid the Acqua Alta flooding that occurs when the tide is high & a particularly seasonal phenomenon. St Mark's square floods, as do a couple of the points around the canals. Walking (well, wading!) past some hotels, you could see their lobby had a good couple of inches of water in there. Luckily Hotel A La Commedia is well-positioned to avoid that.
All in all, I really enjoyed my stay there and would love to go again - I can see why it costs a lot more when the weather is better!
My wife and I stayed here in February 2019 for a mini break for two nights. It’s easy to get to the hotel from Marco Polo airport. We bought tickets at the airport for the shared water taxi (orange line) and got off at the Rialto bridge.
The hotel was perfectly located for us with a 1-2 minute walk to the Rialto bridge and a short 5 minute stroll to St Marks Square. The hotel itself was great, the service was brilliant and the room was perfect for what we needed, very comfortable and clean.
The breakfast was nice in the morning and the later checkout at 12:00 meant we could still explore the city in the morning before checking out. The hotel kindly stored our bags in the afternoon before our evening flight home. Would highly recommend the hotel for its service and great location.
Stayed at this hotel for 3 days recently and have nothing but praise for the staff and the comfort of the accommodation. The bed and pillows were very top class, the bathroom spacious and well appointed and the general atmosphere warm and cordial.
At night it was possible to sleep with a window open and to do so without background noise or disturbance......which must be a rare experience in large cities.
A small but much appreciated gesture was 2 bottles of water by the bedside every night.....thanks.
Further the hotel is very central...mid way between Rialto and San Marco.
Could anything be improved? Yes, two features of the breakfast 1. When serving tea, the pot shoud be pre heated and very hot water poured immediately over the tea 2. The scrambled egg ,as currently prepared is not pleasant ....is it made with fresh eggs.?
Those 2 items aside our stay at the Hotel was very very good and we'd return without hesitation.
