How to Get There
This is our first visit to this hotel and for sure we will be going back again next year. The staff are very friendly and do everything they can to make your holiday perfect . Location of the hotel is just perfect with lovely beach . Nice and clean room ( junior suite) with perfect views of sunsets every evening . We enjoy it so much .
Just returned from a weeks stay and didn't want to leave. The hotel is set on a mountain with a beautiful view of the bay. It's a quiet location which might not suit everyone but we enjoyed the tranquillity of the area. We visited Corfu town both day and night using the shuttle bus to the top of the hill to then catch the local bus.
Very clean hotel. Our rooms were Juniour Suites with lovely sea views. Fridge and kettle in the room also. We liked the variety of pool and beach area and both we found to be clean with easy accessibility to bars and toilets. No regrets booking this hotel whatsoever.
We are a family of 54 yr old male, 42 yr old female & 6 yr old child, travelled May 2018. We paid a hotel charge of £1173 for 7 nights all inclusive. Plus points: Beautiful location with long sandy, safe beach, always sufficient loungers on beach & around pool, comfortable bed, nice hot water at all times, friendly staff special mention to Anastasia in the 'paid for' coffee bar near the pool who provided exceptional customer service. Minus points: Room!- We paid for a junior suite with sea view, room was very small, insufficient wardrobe space & we had to leave 2 suitcases on the floor, supplied DVD player didn't work & very small TV with basic range of channels. Whilst this was a satisfactory, basic room, it is one of the hotel's superior choices & we feel it should be renamed, the use of suite in the description creates an expectation of something a little better which was not delivered. There is a small drain with a grille for the bath/shower water in middle of bathroom floor which had a 'drain smell' periodically. Room servicing was hit & miss- bins not emptied on several days, amenity tray not restocked at all & toiletries not replaced. FOOD- Only used main restaurant, the food provided was good, varied but uninspiring, a subjective comment..felt like a good head chef constrained within a tight budget! SPA- Excellent 90 minute massage, lengthy booking process however that required several forms, pre- payment & production of said paperwork on day of treatment! SUMMARY- We had a nice beach holiday but nothing exceptional about this hotel's offering. GENERAL CORFU COMMENTS- Airport- we travelled on a Saturday. The airport on departure is a nightmare, well documented elsewhere, this alone would stop us travelling to Corfu again.. we arrived 2hr 15 mins prior to flight departure, we still had half an hour to wait in the security queue at the time the flight was due to leave. There is a mass of people waiting to check in, you have to then take your suitcases to another queue to be scanned, this queue went right outside the terminal & then back in, once done there is a 3rd long queue for security/passport control. Do not underestimate how bad the airport is! RUBBISH- There is an issue with this, again documented elsewhere, every public bin has a mass of sometimes hundreds of bags piled up outside, doesn't appear to be rotten so must eventually be cleared but not pleasant. Corfu town is lovely & was the highlight of our week's stay. TAXI- Not cheap, we had excellent service both for airport transfer & Corfu town trip from Nikos +306972888824 who charged 35 euros for transfer each way & 30 euros each way for Corfu town.
We’ve spent a week in May, the opening week precisely. We booked a junior suite sea view with All Inclusive, which is the top choice btw, they sell JS as the best in class they all seaview.
Once escorted to our room we discovered was partially seaview since a few palmtrees right in front of the room prevent to see the sunset and hide part of the view.
Beside that, rooms (all rooms, including junior suites) are boxy, way less roomy and cozy of the average, with small balcony, just one small sofa (one seat) and very small closet, utterly incapable to contain the clothes of two suitcases.
Not to mention there's no room for suitcases itself which we had to hide behind sofa and curtains. Bathroom still has old-school bathtube with shower, very small basin with no room for welcoming two toiletry bags, no hooks for towels neither bathrobe.
Here comes the so-called "All Inclusive".
The opening week was offered with 20% discount due to low season and weather-roulette plus the hotel is still busy with maintainance, many things have to be organized, fixed, etc. so be prepared to run into handymen rushing around, acquaintences, commodities, missing stuff or broken (tables in the dining room) .
A few words about the "4" restaurants among which one still to be fixed and the main serving same menu at breakfast, lunch and dinner, with quality below the average (don't forget the mentioned discount, you never get quality services for free). The other two restaurants, next to the pool deck, were lovely but over crowded/booked of clients eager to try something different after days of same meal.
Anyone is interested in all included drinks? Don’t expect to get a decent drink/cocktail/glass of wine at this place. Coffee? You welcome with just Nescafe. Juice? Artificial, sweet and extremely diluted.
Service: Staff of restaurants and bars is really nice, helpful and well mannered. But they can’t fight with a lot of hotel’s imperfections. Pool absolutely not good, especially for a 5-star. Old, really small, not deep enough, suitable for kids only.
Beach: not really wonderful, but decent. Definitely doesn’t have enough space for beach lounge chairs for full season...they will be too much, too close to each other. Note that on weekends this beach, which is very popular, is overcrowded with locals families with kids mostly, occupying chairs and umbrellas (for free?) presumibly reserved for guests (who pay for this service). Impossible to chill literally, they couldn't care less you trying to rest. Life guard and staff don't care about who's taking lounge chairs and umbrellas, you get to the beach and find first line busy of people coming early in the morning with their stuff. Shame.
A few words more about the parking, not existing actually. They have a few parking-bay around the entrance, the only official parking is taken by workers and delivering trucks. I'd freak out in checking in over high-season.
In the end this hotel for being 5-star is overrated and overpriced, we paid around €150/pp per day and must admit going over is not really worth it.
I have to say we were a bit disappointed with our first visit to a Greek island. Once we landed at the airport i realised this is not going to be the holiday we were expecting. The reps were there to let us know where to find our coach, but we found out that there isn't going to be a TUI rep at the hotel. Tip No.1 from the rep - DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER!!! The jorney from the airport to the hotel was short - around 30min but the scenery was the next disappointment. Abandoned buildings and cars everywhere and massive piles of waste due to waste disposal issue on the island (after googling it found out it is ongoing since 2016). After we dropped groups of people at two other resorts it was finaly our stop and thank god for those views or i was ready to turn around and go back. We were greated and offered a drink at check in and our luggage was taken to our room. And then disappointment again - room was in great need of refurbishment, so i've ask to change rooms and was told the hotel is fully booked, but when a room became available they will let us know. That never happened. At least the view from our balcony was amazing. After reading recent reviews i found out that some of the rooms have been already refurbished unfortunately we were not lucky. The other issue with our room - it was opposite a maintenance room and we could hear loud talking early morning and late at night. The main reastaurant was good, nice setting and you can enjoy the sunset while having dinner. Plenty of choice and variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The two a la carte restaurants were a bit of a let down. The Olive Tree is suppose to be a steak house but the only steak was "veal" (it was not!), they served it on a plate full of blood and it was raw (actually they never asked how we want it cooked). The Pergola we liked for lunch, lovely pasta and salads, also i enjoyed my dinner there but my partner said his fish was not good. The Tortuga restaurant is only open at the weekend and it is not included in the all inclusive deal but guest have 15% off (this information is not available on First Choice website!). The bars were all good (branded alcohol cost extra), there was entertainment almost every night, also a day time activities. Staff was great and smiling and helpful. The real gem of this place is the beach, simply amaizing.
Shuttle bus takes guest to the top of the hill, from there you can explore Pelekas village and the 360 view from what once was a monastery. Bus to Corfu town runs regularly.
I would strongly recommend hiring a car to explore the island. The hotel also offer some daily trips.
I have to mention the departure from Corfu airport was a joke, very small airport, full of people and very disorganised. After check in you have to take your own luggage and queue to drop it off on the belts.
Unfortunately we would not be returning to Corfu and i would not recommend it as holiday destination, not at that price and with all that issues.
