When you think of Santorini, you picture hair-raising sunsets, uninterrupted views across the Aegean Sea, and iconic whitewashed churches with sapphire-blue domes – the village of Imerovigli is everything you could have possibly imagined. Staying at the luxurious Kasimatis Suites, you’ll be in one of Santorini’s best placed towns to revel in the unique beauty of the island’s landscape.
The family-run complex sits in a privileged position in the highest point of the caldera, boasting incredible views towards the glistening blue sea and Nea Kameni volcano. The architecture doesn’t stray from traditions of the sun-kissed Greek neighbourhood either, with its whitewashed exterior and bold lines blending in with its Cycladic surroundings. Guestrooms are in keeping with tradition too, featuring elegant Mediterranean touches and fabulous vistas.
Grab a book from the lobby library before heading to a poolside sun bed, where you can recline while soaking up the stunning panoramas spanning the Santorini caldera. Explore the village of Imerovigli, with its warren of narrow streets lined with traditional houses and small churches. Cap off a fantastic day with a simple but decadent meal of local delicacies at one of the tavernas in the town. The bustling capital of Santorini, Fira, is also just a 20-minute walk should you fancy the atmosphere of a buzzing bar for a few drinks.
How to Get There
Oh dear Kasimatis Suites, how shall I list your many failings? Maybe none so terrible (they're definitely 'middle class problems') but this is an expensive place to stay so to my mind that means things should work well. However...
our 'private' balcony was anything but private, being separated from our room by the footpath between Fira and Oia;
breakfast is delivered to your room/balcony which is fine but it's from a predetermined list of four breakfasts, there's no chance to choose the combination of food that you'd really like;
whether you actually got the breakfast items as listed was totally hit and miss and requesting missing items necessitated a phone call to reception as asking the waiter who'd delivered the tray just brought incomprehension;
our room looked swish with a circular bed but was a full of design flaws, weird taps that either sprayed water out of the sink or the water didn't reach the sink at all and the comfy seating was too high off the ground to be really comfy;
the sunbeds on the terrace are very basic with no mattress or pillow;
the wifi is totally useless - we resorted to using our own mobile wifi something we hadn't needed to do in our previous three Greek Island hotels.
Ok, the location is fabulous.... Imerovigli is ideally located for visits to Oia and to Fira and the hotel occupies a premium caldera edge position. There are amazing views of the famous Santorini sunset from the terraces.... but this really is not enough to justify the high prices given the lack of care to make the hotel truly great. I can only suppose that it doesn't expect return visitors, it certainly isn't a welcoming place.
Beautiful view from the room and hotel area. Great sunset viewing just on our balcony. The area was private and quiet, away from the tourist area. The hotel is located in a convenient area, we were able to travel to Firá on foot and easy access to local bus to Oia.
The staff were friendly and helpful, aided us with booking transportation and tour. Recommended us to local restaurants and how to travel in the area. Only complaint will be the WiFi which was limited at times, but you are in Santorini so you shouldn’t be spending too much time on it anyway.
The above price for two nights ! It was money well wasted. We were looking forward to this hotel but we were extremely disappointed! I would never recommend anyone to stay here. So many issues and here are a few to mention:
We had booked a deluxe suite and the room we were given was completely different to the pictures on their website. It was so tiny - nothing like a suite! Asked for a room change.
Second room - Mouldy shower heads where only the hand-held shower worked. When we pulled for the rain shower, the knob fell off. It had been held by a wrapper. When we asked for help, the receptionist asked me 'why is it broken?' - Answer: I don't know why it is broken!!!! They sent over a technician to fix it. Once it was fixed, the knob was so tight that it would retract back as soon as we left it - so yet again only the hand-held shower would work. Again, called the technician to fix it. Next day, there was no hot water, so called the reception for the third time, they said there is a switch board where the hot water switch has to be turned on. I asked why we weren't told that as the night before we had had a cold shower, his answer: 'Because we had changed rooms'.
My husband has developed a mad rash caused by the hot tub.
Mouldy kitchen sink.
Dirty sun loungers.
Fridge/freezer hasn't been cleaned in years. Half the freezer was ice.
Noisy 1980s air conditioning and not effective.
Disturbing bright exit light in the room at night.
Only pool showers available if you were to check out and wanted a shower later.
Only one water bottle given per stay.
When we were leaving the girl at reception said nothing to us. Not a word of good-bye, or if we had a good stay - nothing at all! Lovely customer service!!
Basically, it was the worst experience we have had and this was one of the most expensive rooms we have stayed in. At the end of the day, the hotel staff don't actually care.
Beautiful view and peaceful. Away from the hustle and bustle center. Just the way we like it.
Can always rent a car and drive out for the action and come back to enjoy the serenity.
Special thanks to Constantino for his excellent service and recommendation for our driving spots!!!!
Hotel is in a very good location in Imerovigli. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The view from the balcony of our room was amazing. We saw the sunset every night from the balcony and it was amazing. The room was a bit poor and aged compared to the hotel price. The breakfast was ok, but little bit boring for one week althought there were four different breakfast options.
