Fantastic Hotel

Staying in Nikopolis Hotel was an excellent choice. The location was great, very close to the airport, just outside the city, in a wonderful location away from the city’s noise. The room was clean and spacious with a great view in the garden and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was full of different choices. The stuff was very friendly and helpful, especially Mrs Olga from the guest relations for always being there to cover our requests the best possible way. Overall I will definitely visit Nikopolis Hotel in my next trip to Thessaloniki.

Another good stay

Stayed at Nikopolis once more. This time at a Deluxe Pool View room. These rooms are larger thank the superior ones and have a mini porch with two sunbeds on it. Bed was comfy and room of high quality.
There were some features that need some freshening up ( Such as the shower head (room25) ) but apart from this all good.
Service is good around the hotel in most cases though it felt understaffed at times.
Dome restaurant is a good option to eat in.
All in all worth a visit.

Pleasant

I was not sure how to rate this property. It was a toss up between 3 and 4. There are some positive aspects and some less positive.

The positive aspects are that check in was smooth, as was check out. The wifi was very good. The pool is really nice - huge actually and great for a decent swim. The parking was ample. The staff are friendly and some of them are extremely good. The Dome restaurant was outstanding and the staff in there were really good, well informed and very professional. I personally liked the style of the building very much too. The grounds were well maintained. The gym looked very good too, although I didn't have time to try it out.

The room we were staying in was with a pool view and on the ground floor. It was extremely dark when we went in - I would suggest they leave the curtains slightly open as it is too dark - I was having a bit of a problem to find the key slot for the power and had to put the flashlight of my cell phone on. First impressions are important and pitch black is not inviting, although the room is "attacked" by the sun in the morning so I understand the blackout curtains - and appreciated them too. The room in itself was very spacious and attractive. Clean and I slept very well. However it needed some maintenance. The shower handle came off in my hand, the plug next to my bed was a bit out of the socket and the marble in the bathroom needed glueing down. The amenities were fine too. However it is a bathroom with blinds between the bedroom and bathroom - the thing to close the blind was a bit "iffy" and I tried to use it, but I think it was broken. The outside was at first sight very attractive. However - the chaise longues looked singularly uncomfortable, the garden was sodden and the chairs sank into the mud. It was watering every night and I got wet when I went out in the morning and sat on the chair. Also why couldn't the rooms have little steps directly to the pool, instead of having to go around and down and up? Personally I would do away with the garden "look" and put down a patio with a border of plants. It would be far more practical. The pool. To get to the pool, picking up the towel on the way, you have to go down to the spa and then up again to the pool area. There is a sign down to the outdoor pool. And then nothing - you find a door which is an emergency exit and you are not allowed to open it. So you have to go back up or find your way to the reception of the spa which looks very nice, but it is all a bit of a labyrinth and not practical for the guest. They do not want people in swimsuits around the restaurant and cafe I imagine. However, the pool bar was not open and there was one waiter running back and forth with coffees and snacks. I ordered coffee which never arrived. We were hungry so we had to go to the room, change and then go and eat. The pool is a very central part of the whole layout of the hotel. It is lovely in fact - but they should rethink the practical flow for the guests in my opinion. F&B a mixed bag - a very wide selection of things for breakfast, but not great quality in my opinion, or at least what I had. The coffee was really not good, the ready scrambled eggs were not good either. The poached eggs were with a thick layer from being there too long. Although one could also order omelettes etc - so why bother with the ready options? I also could not find butter, only margarine. On the other hand, the Dome was absolutely excellent. The cafe had a very uninspiring selection of snacks - club sandwiches, etc. Also I thought the coffee was very expensive, even by hotel standards. 6 Euro for a cappuchino. My husband paid about 25 Euro for a club sandwich and tea. It is a property that is so attractive, that these issues are irritating, because it could so easily be outstanding. Would I go back? Possibly. Overall it was a good stay, but it could have been fabulous.
