How to Get There
We stayed here for two nights mid-December and it was perfect for our needs. The room was clean and the staff were friendly and polite. The subway was not too far away and it is close to Kew Gardens. I would stay here again.
I booked this hotel through secret escapes and paid just under £200 for 2 nights. The hotel seemed ok, not the cleanest but was acceptable as a base. We didn’t think it was a ‘luxury hotel’ as you’d expect from Secret escapes. Firstly the shower room is terrible. The water didn’t drain quickly or effectively meaning the whole bathroom started to flood quickly. It was like a scene from the film ‘Shape of Water’! But! The biggest problem... scabies. After sleeping in the bed on the first night I began to itch. I put it down to wearing a hat in the cold weather but this became more prominent after the second night. This carried on for weeks until I visited my gp who diagnosed scabies and he connected our hire visit to this. My whole family needed to take the treatment as this highly infectious condition can be transferred from bedding and towels. This was quite distressing as I have 2 children who also had to treated, my youngest just 3 years old! I contacted the hotel manager who obviously has a medical degree (small hint of sarcasm!) as he quoted a section from Wikipedia to me about scabies and how it’s only contracted through skin to skin. This isn’t the case, it can be transferred from bedding and towels. I’m inclined to take the word of my qualified doctor who spent many years at medical school over the jumped up rude manager of this hotel. Unsurprisingly they refused to accept blame or provide evidence that it wasn’t their fault. I have contacted environmental health, I hope Dr general manager will be more helpful when they contact him! My advice, book elsewhere or if you must stay there.. take your own bedding and towels. Or sleep in a sleeping bag!!
This was my 4th visit back to this property over the last 2 1/2 years. I had booked the hotel again when it was still the Urban Villa but received an email on October 23rd letting me know that the hotel had new ownership and was now called "Adagio Aparthotel.
This was a trip to see if the Adagio would still be my apartment style hotel of choice when I visit the UK again. I can report that the high standard of this hotel has continued and I am still very happy with hotel and still rate it a 5 out of 5.
Before arriving I had emailed the reservation manager, James Phillips, to add my newly acquired loyalty card number to my reservation so that I could begin earning my points for this trip and he accommodated this request.
It was a great relief that when I arrived at the hotel by car to learn that the frustrating 2 garage gates have been removed. During my three previous trips,there had been issues with both gates and several times they would not open to let guests both in and out. It was nice this trip to have no issues because those unreliable gates have been removed.
I had requested a higher floor and was given suite on the 7th floor (out of 10) so I had no complaint there and the Villa deluxe had no issues at all and everything worked properly and really no change from my previous 3 stays. I did have to ask for more hangers as for some reason the hotel never supplies enough hangers in the rooms. They supplied them within minutes of my getting to the room.
The hotel now provides breakfast. I did not try it as I always visit Marks & Spencer and purchase food to cook so I am not sure how the breakfast is. Since the hotel is now French owned I understand it might be a French continental breakfast.
The staff are really fantastic and helpful. Siti, who has been there 2 years, remembered me from last trip in March which was nice to feel like a valued guest. The assistant manager, who I had talked to, was also very nice and accommodating to a request I had had about checking out an hour late.
I think the only difference from my 3 previous visit is that the rooms will not be made up (i.e. no service) unless one stays over 7 days. Since, however, I had booked before the change in ownership, my room was serviced every day.
I still give the hotel 5 out of 5 because for those who want a modern apartment style hotel that is not too expensive and not far from London, this is a great hotel. My only slight question I would ask is for the hotel to add more channels to the TV including one of the sports channels like Sky Sports so that guests can watch the football which is a big deal in England.
Great place to stay in London on business. Bus H91 runs in front of the hotel, Bus 65 on the side. South Ealing tube stop is a quick walk up the hill. The room has a fully equipped kitchen and a modern bathroom. A very good deal
Had stayed at the Villa 4-5 times in the past few months, and every time there was an issue with the apartment. Either the balcony window could not be closed and because of the heavy wind at that time it kept me awake, or some internal ventilation noise kept me awake until 3AM.
The apartments are not particularly clean either.
During my last stay, I had to move the nightstand a little bit in order to plug my phone in, and discovered a thick dust behind it, just right next to the bed. Seemed that the nightlight on the wall been just drilled in, and all the plaster was still on the floor- hidden behind the nightstand..
The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are provided on tube that is fixed to the wall, and the ones I actually touched were mouldy underneath...
Not planning to stay there again.
