Staff friendly and nice. We received a lovely spacious room although our first room was not suitable. Good quality fixtures and fittings throughout hotel. Pity hot breakfast was cold on both days. Meal in restaurant in evening was superb, very tasty and the waiter was lovely. Mauricio the waiter was excellent member of staff. Staff great at helping us with our bags. Very pleasant.

Delighted by the diplomacy and excellent meals prepared by Chef Joseph Phillips at Thistle Hyde Park

My husband and I stayed at Thistle and we were both delighted and extremely impressed by the delicious meals prepared ans served by Chef Joseph Phillips! The breakfasts we had over thr past 4 days were sumptuous and the array of english and continental offerings were quite appealing. Chef Phillips courteous and professional demeanour are much to be admired. He is a great asset to Thistle. Well done Chef Phillips.

View of Roof, windows don't open and NO AIR CONDITIONING!

I love the location of this old hotel. Yes it is a pain that the hot and cold water come out of different faucets but you get used to it, either scalding or freezing yourself while you wash your face. The worst thing about this place is the fact that they have NO AIR CONDITIONING! The room I entered was at least 80 degrees. I tried to open the window, but it did not open. I looked out and saw a rooftop with pigeon feces pilled up on it. I tried not to freak out and cry, but it was hard. I asked about the air conditioning and the lady said no, we don't have it. I asked how that is possible. I said I did not read anything about that, and she said "well, we try not to highlight that". In other words, they lie by omission. I was only staying 2 days in the middle of July, and I pre-paid. I was in big trouble. I knew there was no way I could sleep in that hotel. They brought me a fan to move around the hot air. It was absolutely miserable. The bottom of the Tub/shower was filthy, I even took a picture of it. As far as towels..they only give you 1 of each (unlike most hotels which give you two large towels) No extra towels. Also, there are no outlets!! They had to move the bed so I could plug in my phone! It was the only one working socket in the room!! I will never ever stay there again. To top off a horrible stay, when I left, I asked the front desk to call me a taxi. He said he did. I sat down in front of him waiting for him to tell me that the taxi had arrived. After 30 minutes I asked where the taxi was. He said, oh, he came and went!! When were you going to tell me. He shrugged! I ended up dragging my luggage down the street and flagging down my own taxi. They could not even properly set me up in a taxi and clearly did not care. If you want a pleasant stay in London, avoid this property until they get a new staff, replace the sink fixtures and add air conditioning. Don't imagine that will happen in the next 10 years...And...it was over $250 per night. My friends stayed at the Premier Inn and paid $100....I will try there next time!
