How to Get There
Arrived from Australia not knowing what to expect in London - we were blown away with the stay at the Waldorf - from concierge to front office to condition of room and facilities. For us the location was perfect - close to every where we wanted to visit. A beautiful place
The hotel is in an amazing location near Covent Garden and the London Theatre district as well as plenty of excellent restaurants. I was aware the facade was being worked on and shocked to see the dated lobby and furniture and dead flowers in the entrance area. When I commented that flowers are dead they said new ones would arrive on Friday - why not just remove them? Is this what a high end hotel would let happen???
The hotel lacked attention to detail. The executive lounge was a disaster with no glasses or food and staff not anywhere in site. Breakfast at the executive lounge was 2 star. The room was small and the coffee in the room was instant! My hair dryer was about 15 years old with outdated plugs in the room. This hotel has so much history and potential it’s a disappointment and don’t recommend it at all at this point. I hope the renovations include the inside as well as more attention to details.
We had 3-course dinner with a glass of bubbly on a Living Social offer. It was all very lovely and the service was excellent. I was disappointed though that the famous Waldorf Salad had to be paid for as an extra. I really think that each diner could have been offered a complimentary portion as I would love to have tried it but I object to paying for a set menu and then having to pay extra for bits and pieces. It was all top quality though.
Had a lovely afternoon tea here. Service, decor, food and champagne were exceptional. Had a slight miscommunication when ordering vegetarian sandwiches and they came out all meat, but they were quick and nice to fix things.
Great, Great location.
Room was clean but small (this was expected though).
Very helpful staff.
We were in London for the first time. Hotel was a great starting point for walking, visiting sights, etc
And again, great location.
