Not the Waldorf You Think!!

First off, this hotel was under construction. Ok, fine. But when you are visiting and have jet lag, you don't want to hear all that drilling while sleeping in. Not a big deal. Not sure what a standard room was like as we got "upgraded". The rooms itself are pretty small, upgrade or not, but it was fine. I think the hot water stops at a certain time because when I tried to take a shower at night, there was only lukewarm water. Not a big deal as this seemed to happen only once. What was a big deal is that there is HORRIBLE customer service especially at the front desk. The front entrance area is very narrow and I stepped off to the side waiting for someone to finish up what they were doing, even though there were four people with nobody checking in or out. A man walks in from outside, butts right in and asks the male front desk clerk a question. I know he and everyone else at the front counter saw that I was waiting, but pretended not to, or just didn't care. This really made me irritated. I went up to the man that helped the other man and asked if he was "open". I just never expected such sub par service for hotel like this. We are Diamond Members and never expect anything because of this, but do expect some common courtesy. The only people that were nice were the ladies at the restaurant where we ate breakfast and at the lounge. The location is great which is why we booked this hotel, but the next time we visit London, I will definitely be staying elsewhere!

Great stay as always

my 9th stay during WTM, great team, clean and modern rooms, young and energetic team at Reception and breakfast, thanks to Rahim and Guest Relation Manager for sorting out minor issues during my stay, they handled them very professional, excellent and knowledgeable Concierge team, all doormen are very interactive and make you smile with their funny comments, thank you Waldorf Team!

I'll call it a 3.5...

Second time at this property. Pros: Rooms are nice and quiet, restaurant (and service in the restaurant at Breakfast) is excellent, and location is amazing.

Cons are that the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and, more importantly, were very disorganized. My wife and small daughter arrived at 14:15 and were told they couldn't check in until 15:00. Ok, that's policy, no biggie, but was surprised the room wasn't ready. My wife (also a HH Gold) asked if there were other rooms available, and there weren't. No upgrade offered (again, no biggie, that doesn't happen that often). My wife confirmed that breakfast was included, etc. On returning the hotel, my wife had to go to the front desk three times - keys didn't work in the elevator first time, then 2x they didnt' work in the room. Then she asked to re-confirm breakfast and was told it wasn't included and had to then ask for a manager. Again, not the end of the world but for a very expensive property, I think the front desk service needs to be addressed, and addressed quickly.
