How to Get There
Very nice weekend away! the hotel is in a great location, the staff were al very polite and helpful.
The hotel itself does feel very busy, there was always a lot of people around waiting to leave or check in. breakfast was chaos.
We chose the hotel for it's location as we had friends in the area, for our next trip to London we would perhaps goes somewhere less busy.
The hotel room looking over the water is fantastic the hotel room itself was nice, the bathroom was in need of works though we had a really noisy tap/toilet that was constant.
During the summer months, I most often stay here when I am in London, because of the location... Never disappoints, staff always friendly, attentive and professional... Easy check in and out, great views of Tower Bridge and St Katherines Wharf is a really nice, laid-back place for food and drinks.
We stayed here last week on a visit to Wimbledon and I was less than impressed. Location wise the hotel has a great view of Tower Bridge but is rather big and imposing...a bit of an eyesore TBH. The foyer is spacious and tidy. There is a 3 o'clock check in and, although we were early, we were unceremoniously sent packing by the German Receptionist who made no attempt to check if there was an available room. We took ourselves off for a few hours and returned after 3: the Receptionist on this occasion was pleasant and although she checked if we were celebrating a special occasion (my husband's birthday) she made no mention of it any further. No upgrade...not a thing. Our room was the smallest I think I've ever stayed in...809...pushed up against the wall so one of us had to clamber over the bed in the middle of the night to use the Loo. We had tea/coffee making facilities, an iron, hairdryer etc but only 1 shower gel and 1 shampoo for a 2 night visit...not good. The room itself was very old fashioned and in need of an update. Location is good if you want to wander down the South Bank...or go to the Tower...but I'd rather stay towards Holborn. I will not be back.
Rooms are small and very basic. 2 single beds for one person - why is this a good idea? The beds were very small and not comfortable. The cooling system (not AC) is simply not good enough on hot days. Quality of the fixtures and fittings is old school and generally tired/worn- no plugs for SUB or non-English. Bathroom worn and tired, towels were old. For me this is a very old and tired hotel in a great location - if you can get this at a good price then maybe a good option, but at normal London rates I would not go here again...ever
The hotel is very walkable for a variety of activities, including the Tower of London/Crown Jewels and a Tube station, and it is right on the river and offers beautiful views. Hotel staff and service were good, and the concierge helpful. The restaurant was good and so was the bar. There was a really cool hangout spot outside the hotel called the Lawn where people were gathered to watch the World Cup. The room was fine, but the a/c wasn’t very good and it seemed a bit run down, although this may be more normal for Europe. Compared to the hotel where the other couple from our airport transfer were dropped, this was much better. I would recommend and stay again.
