Not as great as before ...

I've been staying at the Soho Hotel in London almost every time I'm in the city since it was opened more than 12 years ago. I've reviewed it before and gave it glowing marks for location, furniture, the "hardware", and service.

This time around, I'm staying at the hotel for about 8 days / nights as I have a long work assignment in London and wanted some quiet time to reflect and work.

The front reception and concierge staff are still superb, as always. Especially Sandro, AC and their team. Excellent and fantastic people.

The rooms have been gradually refurbished and updated so in terms of the "hardware", the hotel still looks fresh, "newish" and modern.

The parts that are disappointing though are the housekeeping and service in the restaurant (during breakfast).

While staff are always polite and courteous, they do tend to be forgetful. Forgetting my requests for simple things such as toasted white bread (I had to ask for it three times!) made the entire experience unpleasant despite the rest being good. Housekeeping keeps forgetting to replenish simple things such as the laundry bags, room slippers, soap bar, and even hand towels, etc. Very disappointing for a hotel which I've grown to like and am such a loyal customer.

I'm now thinking if I should try elsewhere ...

Not worth the money

We have stayed at this hotel three times !
This time we walked into our allocated room to be greeted by high scaffolding and workmen right outside the window who would pay 500 pounds for that ?
Loyalty doesn’t seem to count here
We had to take a lower category room much smaller and totally without charm
The only good thing about the soho are the staff they are wonderful but it doesn’t make up for the crappy smallroom for a lot of money !
We will not be back !

Modern hotel and perfect location

We spent 2 nights at the hotel and couldn’t have been more pleased with our experience! We arrived early on our first day and the room wasn’t ready yet ( what was understandable) and we left our luggage to walk in the Soho neighborhood. When we came back we got an upgrade to an amazing luxury room, very spacious with a beautiful bathroom and our luggage had been brought up already. We got a nice handwritten welcome letter with a candle and pillow spray (what I loved!). Breakfast buffet table was an arrangement of healthy delicious muesli, freshly cut fruits and variety of berries and pastries. Fresh pressed orange juice and of course other breakfast options to order. The location of the hotel couldn’t be more perfect, in a very quiet street with 2 entrances in the front and back. We did everything by walking, Oxford street, Regent Street, Hyde Park.. there is a great selection of bars and restaurants near the hotel.
I would like to point out the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, it made our stay even more enjoyable. We will always come back and recommend this hotel!

My Go-To When in London

What an absolute gem of a place. Small enough to be intimate but has all of the big hotel amenities. The staff are incredible and helpful. The rooms are funky and artistic. Could spend the whole day just shooting the breeze with friends on the property (which I've done and its great)
