Very overdue for refurbishment and could do with improved cleaning

I booked the hotel based on their rating, but was disappointed with the condition of the hotel rooms . Initially was put in a 'basement' room, which was dark depressing and the furniture looked like it had been bought from a jumble salhe. After comlaining I was moved to a room on floor 3, but this was no better. Wood chiupped off furntiure, badly scuffed walls, dust around television and cupboards. There is no proper hanging space for clothes, the desk is a drop down shelf, which droops and is dirty and chipped. My son stayed at the travel lodge earlier in the week which was significantly cheaper and the room was considerably better and cleaner. Maybe in it's hayday it would have been acceptable, but not now.

Hotel staff went out of their way to make my work trip memorable

The hotel staff at park grand london has made my rushed worked trip comfortable. The staff at the reception, hotel cafe chef, Xavier and hotel manager Nilesh have all been rather hospitable and gone out of their way to make my 6 days at the hotel worth remembering. I would happily return to this hotel for another visit with the knowledge that I will be welcomed with a smile and helpful staff

Comfortable stay, good location

The hotel is walking distance from lancaster gate station and paddington station which is a major advantage. The rooms are average size as per London standards (may otherwise be considered as very small). I'm not complaining since i was promptly moved to a huge room where i stayed very comfortably. We stayed for three weeks and as they say , familiiarity breeds contempt. So by beginning of week 2, i was getting tired of the same english breakfast menu and layout , by week three we just stopped eating breakfast. The cook in the evening was a blessing in disguise. I definitely had one of the best Indian meals at this hotel at dinner. Some of the staff is also caring and responsive to requests by guests.
