How to Get There
Hotel situated in nice area. 10 minute walk from Paddington station. Had serious issues with hotel room itself. None of the wall sockets actually worked. We were only there for 2 nights and we had a mobile charging unit for our phones so we made do. The other major issues were the tiny size of the room and i mean that and the bathroom. If you showered it would flood the rest of the bathroom and leak into the actual bedroom area. Would definitely recommend you spend a little more and get a nicer hotel.
really enjoyed my stay at the park grand paddington spent three nights here. The hotel is in a good location and the staff are really nice and helpful especially the girls working on reception very helpful they were .We enjoyed our stay and wen we come back to london will be using this hotel
This was a strange trip. I guess you can say that you get what you pay for. Me and my girlfriend booked a three night stay here, a four-star hotel, in a deluxe room. The room that we got at check in has seen better days. Very tired and outdated this was in the basement, which felt more like a dungeon rather than a Deluxe room. There was no phone reception and the room felt very small to the point of claustrophobia. The room was very cold, which didn’t look to be anew problem as they had an electric oven in the room. That we never got to turn on, but it was both old and somewhat rusty so we probably wouldn’t have liked to sleep with it on anyway. The tables were not ok, the curtains were broken and kind of hanging by a thread, when lying in bed you could see the dust on the top of the bed, etc.etc. The pictures accompanying this review are from that room.
We complained the next morning (we arrived so late we didn’t have the energy to do so that night) and were told that a) this was in fact and upgrade from what we ordered, which didn’t make any sense, but b) that there would be no problem in changing our room. They switched us to the 4th floor, which was a much nicer room, cleaner, had sunlight and albeit smaller it felt much, much better.
It was still nowhere near my expectations of a 4 star hotel, tired and older than the neighborhood and lobby would suggest.
But: On a budget, for a two-to-three star hotel in Europe, this would have been acceptable. And I guess I should have both read the reviews, which pretty much sum it up and found the price suspicious.
The only saving grace here really was the staff, which was both courteous and helpful, solved my problem the best they could and made sure everything was kinda nice. Speedy check-in and out process, very accommodating when I was probably furious about the room, etc so extra marks to them.
So many good things to say about this hotel. It is in a very convenient area, only a few minutes from Paddington Station. The reception staff are exceptional, very friendly and efficient and go out of their way to help. We received a complimentary upgrade as it was our anniversary. Room and en-suite spotless, with wide range of toiletries. Fridge was nice and bottled water provided. But the surprise of the complimentary wine and fruit was surpassed by the 'swans' and rose petals on our bed when we returned in the evening. (See the photos). What a lot of trouble was taken to make our very short stay so special.
In a nice area, initially we thought it looks a nice hotel. Service was excellent I must say.
Breakfast was good with sufficient choice.
They offered a left luggage service for free also which was very helpful.
The problem is the general state of the hotel doesn't match up with the surrounding area and service. Its just a bit shabby. The carpet was torn as you walk to your room. The room was very small, all of the furniture was a bit knocked up, marked and dated. The shower was a bit grubby, tiles broken etc. The room was freezing cold and there was just a storage type heater left for us to heat the room (we managed).
The bed was comfy and the TV worked :-)
It was fine, just not in 4 star condition and I expected more. Just disappointed as a Travel Lodge would have been better.
