Best hotel experience I've ever had - Staff is excelent, socializing with other guests, and great Pokémon Go hunting

I booked here as it looked nice and was comparable to to the other hotels my company was recommending for a business trip. I was so glad that I did, I don't want to stay anywhere else next time I'm in London.

The staff is what made the visit for me and the other guests. Jorge the concierge was incredibly friendly and made me feel like a VIP. I asked him later to help me find a massage as my back was sore from the flight and I had to present at a conference the next day. He found me a great place just down the street and made the appointment for me. Every day I was so happy to see and chat with him and the other staff at the front.

I had breakfast included with my room which was wonderful. I looked forward to it every day as I found the traditional English breakfast items very tasty.

The Leopard bar was a fun place to wind down after a busy day and sip on a complimentary drink they provided for my stay. The live Jazz duo were fun to listen to and enjoy as well. The other guests at the hotel were also very friendly. More than one approached me or started conversations that were very enlightening. Each morning I sat in the reading lobby until an older couple would come down and chat with me. We would ask how each others' days were and the activities we recommended each other see in the city. Made me feel part of a social group and not just on a business trip alone.

Rooms are elegant (from what I am used to) and very comfortable.

The location is great, next to the British Museum and the Holborn station is a short walk away (so you can go to and from Heathrow directly on the Piccadilly line). If you play Pokémon Go in your spare time like I do, this place is great. I spent 2.5 hours just walking around getting some of the regional pokemon that don't show up back at home. Take a walk all the way to King's Cross and you will get so many Pokémon along the way.

Our favourite hotel in London

The Red Carnation Hotel group really understand what people want from a hotel. We have stayed in this one and the Chesterfield - but this is our favourite because of the garden bar. Their staff treat everyone the same - with courtesy and professionalism. They are not obsequious but they are friendly. The hotel itself is small, beautifully decorated and the rooms have clearly been thought about ergonomically and in terms of everything you may need. The icing on the cake is the garden bar - which is almost unique in central London - and so pleasant on a spring or summer evening..

Great except the room

Everything about this hotel and our experience is/was great. Service, loby, amazing breakfast, amenities, location...

But the room we got was unbelievablely small and the bed was as small to fit it.

We NEVER experienced such a bed for a couple... and the room was also one of the smallest we ever got.

... and YES it was/is a major problem that if we were told about before we would have madr a different selection!!!
