How to Get There
I have stayed at The Grosvernor hotel multiple times recently for business, and I have to say that I am very disappointed. The hotel is under a refurbishment exercise, so it is dirty, and there is a smell of painting around. The rooms I have experienced were not really comfortable : either too small, or too noisy (either because of the train station literally downstairs, or the road and the traffic), or very difficult to walk through, etc. The service is also very poor with little to no interest from the reception team on your stay or your feelings (or just to be polite and say hello). I found the hotel presentation on the website very misleading as compared to what you get (and especially for the price you pay -- this is clearly a far too high price for such an hotel), and I would definitively not recommend this hotel.
Checked into one of the newly refurbished exec rooms on the 9th Nov.
Got to the room and it was freezing. Tried to get the heating to work, but it wouldn’t come on.
We were heading out, so we asked reception if they could get someone to sort the heating out whilst we were out. Upon our return a couple of hours later, the room was still freezing cold. I went back down to reception and was told that the hotel was fully booked, so I couldn’t move rooms, but they would send up an electric heater. 30 mins or so later, they sent up a small electric heater which didn’t really make any difference to the temperature.
6am Sunday morning, we were awoken by lots of noise above the room. The hotel is going through a refurbishment (we were not advised when we booked), and basically there were workmen ripping out the rooms above us, and bringing everything down via the service elevator next to our room. The noise / work continued all morning until we checked out.
Apart from that, the room was quite nice with a comfy bed.
Probably won’t come back - there’s much better hotels in London.
Perfect hotel if you want to be near Victoria Station and the Victoria Coach Station. You can easily walk from the Coach Station to the hotel and the Coach Station is where there are buses to and from Heathrow Airport and many tour companies leave from there. The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating and the restuarant had wonderful dinner. The only complaint is the situation with the elevators. They don't go to all the floors and there is quite a bit of walking down hallways and up stairs to find elevators. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations and hopefully the elevator issue will be resolved. The front desk staff was able to change my room, when I asked, so it would be a little easier with lots of luggage. I will definitely stay here again.
