A Fabulous 30th Birthday Stay!
Reviewed 2 months ago

My boyfriend and I just spent the weekend at this wonderful hotel celebrating his 30th birthday.

From the time of booking I found the hotel staff to be excellent. They helped me arrange a few surprises in the room and they also accepted a Millie's Cookies delivery on my behalf whilst we were out and about for the day.

The hotel itself is excellent and I highly reccommend it. Our room (number 4) was perfect and contained a very comfy bed, plenty of complimentary snacks, chilled complimentary water (which was very welcome when we first arrived) and the whole room was spotless. We were right at the top of the building and there is no lift however this didn't bother us. The whole building is full of charm and has been nicely finished. I especially liked the robes and slippers in the room. We didn't hear any noise from the street or the downstairs pub at all throughout our stay.

The location is also excellent. We found the surrounding area to be pleasant and found many excellent bars and eateries within a few minutes walk of the hotel.

If you want a luxury central London hotel that is not a boring chain you cannot do better than the Clerk and Well.

Lovely boutique hotel in a great location...why go to the chains and pay more for less!

I stayed for two nights during the week on business, mostly to see the comparison to my last stay at one of the chains down the road. The room size was very good, bed very comfortable and it had character, which is where the chains fall over imho.

The amount of complimentary items was excellent and included, bottled water, fresh milk, crisps, a chocolate bar and nuts, which is much more than I expected. The room decor itself was a library theme with a number of Thierry Poncelet prints framed (funny animal portraits). The bathroom was very clean and I am usually very picky and always find something.

Noise wise, you're in London so there's always a hum, but generally it was no worse than any other. If anything I'd say better as there weren't as many doors to slam from other residents!

The hotel is also opposite Leather Lane, which during the day is full of street food stalls selling absolute delights that you can't miss out on.

I come down to our London office a few times a year and will be staying here again for sure.

Excelent Place

Great place to be. Food spectacular, cold beer, great location and the service formidable. We made friends with the staff there. On the next visit to London I will be staying in one of their rooms. Amazing!
