heavenly sleep!

We haven't eaten at the Clerk and Well - sadly we were going out for dinner locally with friends as it looked buzzy and fun with a tonne of people smiling and having a great time! The booking couldn't have been easier, and collecting our key was just the same: super friendly and helpful staff who despite protestations took luggage and lead the way to our room. Conisdering the noise from the pub and outside, as soon as we were in our room we couldn't hear a thing. Bliss. Delicious bed and linens - comfy pillows, proper high quality cotton duvet, sheet etc. Bathroom styley with good products and fluffy towels. every amenity we could think of - tea, coffee, nuts etc etc. Just so impressed with it. we could have really done with room service, Netflix (comes with every room I think) and dare, I say it, chill. but we had to go. late return - easy, quiet room. we collapsed. The next morning it couldn't have been easier to drop our key off with super helpful woman on the desk. Super impressed with this - really everything we could have wished for plus comfort, good sound-proofing, styley rooms. DEFINITELY staying here again, given half the chance.

A hidden gem!

We booked the room via Booking.com for the dates of the 22nd to the 24th October. Prior to arrival we received an email explaining that check in was from 3pm and if we had an expected time of arrival - i replied explaining that the 22nd October was our wedding anniversary so we would be arriving by 3pm, probably before and if we did we would get a drink at the bar.

We arrived at 1.30pm and luckily our room was ready. The gentleman who checked us in (I think he was the manager) asked if we needed help with our bags up to the room as they are up steep stairs. The gentleman showed us the amenities within the beautiful room (which was spotless), which also includes free Netflix. Everything you could think of you need for a mini break they have thought for you - iron and ironing board, hairdryer, bathrobe, slippers, shampoo, conditioner etc. Also there was a mini fridge in the room with two bottles of water, a bottle of milk for your tea and coffee. What I found really lovely was the bar of chocolate, bag of crisps and nuts.

Now I had mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary in an email exchanged and we were blown away that there was a bottle of fizzy on ice in our room. What a wonderful thoughtful thing to do. This got our two night stay off to a fantastic start!

The Clerk and Well Pub is about a 10 min walk from Farringdon tube station and its in a lovely and lively area of London - lots of places to have a drink and grab a drink. We did have a few drinks in the bar itself, we didn't eat there, however the food looked incredible.

Although the rooms are above a lively pub we did not hear any noise from the pub or the outside street. The windows are double glazed. The first night we found the room hot, however we then discovered the air con unit and our second night was much better.

This is a fantastic place to stay if you are coming to London. We had breakfast at the Shard on our first morning and we walked there which was just over 2 miles, so it goes to show that although it is not in central London, within a short time you are in the centre of London.

We would certainly stay here again if we were coming to London - Thank you The Clerk and Well Pub for helping make our wedding anniversary so memorable!

Excellent room at a great value!

The room and location at Clerk & Well were outstanding. The room was very clean and everything was upgraded. One of the few rooms we could find with a king size bed and air conditioning.

The staff was very accommodating and really went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The location was great! A short bus ride to Soho and Piccadilly with great pubs and restaurants just a short walk away. I honestly don’t think you’ll find a better room in this price range in London. Highly recommend!

Amazing rooms

Although above a pub, it's really quiet. Easy check-in at the bar, very attentive staff who showed us to the room. Steep, narrow staircase though - so not ideal if you struggle with mobility, but they do warn you of this before you book.
Beautiful, spacious, simple yet stylish room with character. Complimentary fresh milk, bottled water and chocolate bar in the fridge, plus crisps, biscuits and decent coffee maker.
Slightly pricier than many chains, but well worth it.

Convenient location, nice amenities

I reserved our stay here based on reviews and it did not disappoint. Very close to at least 2 tube stations and about a 40-minute walk to Westminster, the location, in a fairly quiet neighborhood, was great. Despite being above a pub and on a relatively busy street, we had no trouble with noise.
A few good restaurants nearby as well, including a Vietnamese one we liked a lot.
Complementary bottled water, fresh milk, coffee, tea, and biscuits were refreshed daily.
The only “cons” — steep stairs and big step up/down into tub/shower combo with no grab bars, so not easy if you have any mobility issues. Bathroom hot as blazes (no AC in there). Bed was not comfortable for us.
