How to Get There
So I was an American woman traveling alone for business and had only a 24 hour layover in London (first time in the city). After copious research I picked the Capital and it exceeded my expectations. I have traveled extensively and never have experienced the level of service I received here. Yes the hotel has smaller rooms and is not a fancy over the top large chain hotel- and that is why I picked it. Only 49 room boutique 5 star hotel is my type of place because if they are doing well it is because of the people and details. I was contacted by Graham, a head concierge, over a month in advance and explained my itinerary. He went above and beyond and had me in a room in the morning after a long overnight flight for a power nap, then booked me a gorgous vista lunch at the Sky Garden overlooking all of London and the Thames (you need a ticket 1 month in advance or lunch reservations to get into this private terrace that can't be missed with indoor gardens on top of the walkie talkie building). I then took a quick uber to the eye of london and then meandered the central London area on foot safely in the best shopping areas past many sights such as Buckingham palace, Westminster abbey, and knightsbridge shopping and the theater district back to the hotel. The room is cozy, but with elegant details such as warm towel racks, a private tea service at night, gorgous armoir with full length mirror and safe, and a dresser that turns into a desk, and plenty of right sized furniture for little cozy nooks to read and relax despite the smaller size. You are across the street from Harrods and I suggest checking an empty bag and spend a day shopping there- 7 stories, designer clothing, and a block in size, its amazing. The breakfast was wonderful with clotted cream and porridge (better than it sounds!) and I even got a complimentary glass of champagne for booking directly. I missed the traditional tea time walking around the city but heard it is wonderful onsite as well. Graham is the best concierge I have ever met and strongly suggest emailing him beforehand for any ideas. I saw him kindly caring for many older traveling couples with patience and detail getting them theater tickets and dinners and they adore him and return year after year. He greeted me by name at the door, arranged private transfer to the airport both ways, which was ready immediately on time and a luxurious landrover with legroom and a panoramic roof windows to see London pass by. It was am impecable process and he even slipped a note under my door to move my transfer up 30 minutes due to traffic and road construction in advance, he thinks ahead on these details. So impressed and I felt I was visiting a family friend in a foreign city. Will definitely return!!!! Amy
I stayed here with my wife May 2019. The location of the hotel is perfect: on the Picadilly line (which gives you direct access to the theater district, and quick access to everywhere else) and Harrod's. The staff were really nice. The Concierge team were especially helpful with directions and stories of London. Breakfast was fine (though Americans can be challenged with breakfast in England as the eggs are undercooked by our standards). The negative: the rooms were really small even for a downtown hotel. As international travlers on a 3 week vacation we had checked bags and there simply was no where to store them. We kept running in to them in the dark. And the bathroom was as small as hotels in Tokyo. Would recommend for a weekend but not for international travelers.
Booked for one night , close to Eric Clapton Concert at the Albert Hall
Very handy location , but room and facilities very sparse for the cost
bar area was dreadful for a location in Knightsbridge , no atmosphere and no nice seating
nice and quiet room, hotel closed to interesting visit. thank you to Yubin, sonia, julia, sergio, bruno and mathew. We really appreciate your sweets (bonbons) we really want to come back in this hotel
Room was very nice. Could open windows to get fresh air and a breeze in which was nice. Only down side was had to ask for coffee machine and the milk sachets that came were few and small.... but I know if i had asked more would have come.
