Afternoon Tea - poor presentation
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Went for Afternoon tea. There were 4 of us. As soon as we entered the room I thought is this it? The room is so plain and void of any charm or character. Just plain walls. No hanging artwork, vases, flowers or oranments. Nothing. Very dull! We sat down and the table was rocking badly. No table cloths either. It's like they are trying to cut corners as much as possible. Two of us sat on the sofa at our table. It is so soft and low down you just fall back in your seat and are far from the table edge. What's the point in that? They should ditch the sofa. To top it off, afternoon tea is supposed to be served in fine bone china dainty teacups. Instead what was on the table were chunky heavy cappuccino like cups. So not meant to be used for afternoon tea. I have been to a few afternoon teas and this was the least impressive presentation wise. Who ever designed the interior and chose the porcelain needs to be sacked. This is not how afternoon tea is supposed to look and feel. We all mutually agreed we didnt want to stay so we left. When we made a complaint on the way out (as it was a special occasion and we came from afar) the lady (Zita I believe) said to us well we chose to come here. Can you believe that? That's not what you say to customers. Did we know what experience and presentation was to be laid before us upon our arrival? Of course not. She didn't seem like she cared and said she would take my email and have someone get back to me about my feedback. That was 12 days ago and no one has bothered to contact me. What great customer service right? Hence why I did not leave a review here straight away. Waited for their email which never came. When I got home I read some reviews and someone said the room lacked soul. Spot on! I wouldn't recommend this place for afternoon tea. So many other hotels know how to do it just right.

A center of excellence!

Consistently excellent hotel in all respects in over 5+ years of repeat visits. A quite gem in high-brow London surroundings. Luxurious ambience. Beautifully appointed rooms as well as common areas.
Excellent spa services. Best hamaam in Western Europe.

We visited the Bentley Hotel on Saturday the 17th of November to celebrate a family member's 60th birthday.

I can't begin to tell you how happy we were with absolutely everything; the delicious soft sandwiches, the wonderfully light & Buttery scones and the delicate little pastries.

But above and beyond that where the wonderful staff! They greeted us at the door and it was clear they were expecting us. Took our coats and lead us into a beautiful elegant dining room...

Nothing was too much trouble . I have been to several 5-star hotels and this is by far one of the best! The staff are it's greatest assets... professional, welcoming and caring. To the point, the restaurant manager showed my daughter and myself downstairs to to some of the beautiful rooms and explain the history of the hotel which was incredibly interesting

If you are in London for any reason please find the time to visit The Bentley even if it's just for a drink, you will not be disappointed...

It's a wonderful hotel with even better staff and I for one shall certainly be coming back!!!

Champagne Afternoon Tea

Husband chose this with Virgin experience vouchers bought for his 60th Birthday. We were not disappointed. Luxury 5star hotel & we got 5star treatment. The restaurant was elegant, Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were very polite, helped us with our coats, ensured we had everything we needed. Nice glass of bubbly to start. Food was delicious & fresh, teapots held enough for about 4 cups & we got a pot each of proper leaf tea not teabags. Scones were warm & were wonderful topped with jam & cream.

My son and I stayed at the hotel on a Monday night whilst he was visiting a University campus nearby.
We arrived around noon, our twin room was not yet ready which was not a problem as we were eager to go out and explore. Our luggage was taken care of until we returned at 6pm.
George checked us in and we thrilled to be told we had been ugraded to a suite.
The room was huge. Great separate shower aswell as a spa bath which was spotless.
We were due to go out for dinner but my son was over the moon that the room had Sky Sports so got a takeaway and watched the football match.
There was a turndown service and the mattress was the comfiest I have slept in for ages. The room was so quiet and we had a very peaceful night.
In the morning we went down to breakfast at 9.30am. I noticed there was no bacon and asked the waitress if they had any. They waitress said she would bring some immediately...infact anything we asked for was brought within minutes....toast, condiments, hot chocolate...it was tip top!
Checkout was quick and our luggage stored again until we arrived later in the day to collect.
If my son does decide to go to the nearby University I will become a regular here...
Friendly staff who warmly greeted you and made polite conversation.
Stay here!!!! Great location and fabulous for the price!
