Beautiful Kensington

We stayed 3 nights in May 2018. Very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent location near the Tube (and tube to LHR). The hotel is very quiet, in a lively neighbourhood. The room was very clean and especially quiet. Ideal hotel, especially if you like to explore the beautiful surroundings on foot. Highly recommended. One of the best we ever had in London.

Afternoon Tea
Reviewed 3 days ago

Booked a champagne afternoon tea at this ‘5*’ hotel via Virgin Experience.
On arrival at the hotel it looked impressive, it’s in a nice area close to Gloucester Road tube station.
We went to The Peridot room where afternoon tea is served. The room when you first enter looked nice but on closer inspection it is rather tired looking.
The service was fabulous, the waiters attentive, friendly and polite.
We were given a menu and chose our tea. I had earl grey and my friend had coffee.
I must say I was shocked when it was served. The silver teapot needed a scrub. I was told to let the tea brew for a few minutes before pouring. I wondered where the tea strainer was then noticed to my horror that it was a tea bag !!! A 5* hotel that serves an expensive champagne afternoon tea and uses teabags is not appropriate at all and just for this reason alone I would not recommend it or return !
The sandwiches were ok, the scones and cakes were very nice. I even got a lovely piece of cheesecake on a plate with happy birthday written on it in coulis.
If anyone from the hotel bothers reading this then please serve proper tea using tea leaves and not tea bags, it is unbecoming of a 5* hotel !

After our walk in the Cotswolds we decided to pamper ourselves with this stay. Exactly what you would want for a luxury hotel. Rooms were especially nice. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Close to everything. Walked from underground Picadilly.
Did the tourist thing with a tour from London Black Taxi Tours and dinner at the historic Grenadier, perfect.
Perfect trip.

A jewel in Kensington (indeed, in all of London)
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My wife and I have visited London from our home in New York many times over the last twenty years. We’ve stayed at many different hotels in many different parts of the city, and we’ve never stayed at the same hotel twice. Not because we had terrible experiences but because we always wanted to find the “perfect” hotel.

As of last week, we found it – The Bentley Hotel in Kensington.

I hope this doesn’t sound like some promotional copy generated by a hotel’s back office. The fact is, we stayed at the Bentley for five nights last week – and now we’ve found the place where we’ll stay on all of our future visits.

Many of our hotel experiences in the past have been quite good. We’ve had some very nice rooms, some wonderful locations, and incredibly nice hotel staff. However, we’ve never found all of these qualities in one place – until now.

We arrived on Monday morning (May 7th, 2018) at 10:00 am. My wife, Jen, had called the day before to see if we might be able to get early check-in. She was assured by the very friendly voice on the other end of the phone that while he couldn’t promise, he would “do his best.” However – we’ve been through this scenario too many times to count. We’ll get in, weary and bedraggled, and find that we can’t check in until at least 3:00 pm.

At the Bentley, however, the gentleman who had spoken with Jen the day before was right there at the desk – and he said, “Absolutely no problem, your room is ready for you.” And so we were able to collapse on our bed at 10:15 am and rest our weary jet-lagged bodies.

Another feature that Jen and I have all but given up on getting in a London hotel is: adequate water pressure in the shower. Not only was the water pressure in our room at the Bentley as powerful as our bathroom back home, the shower stall was huge, with plenty of places to place our various shampoos and soaps that usually end up on the shower floor in most other hotels.

Our flight leaving Heathrow was scheduled for 6:30 am, so we asked the person at the desk if they could possibly arrange for a 3:30 am car to the airport. The next morning the car was at the front door of the hotel, ready and waiting, as promised.

The location of the Bentley is perfect for anyone looking to visit any or all of London’s various neighborhoods. It’s on a beautiful and sedate street in Kensington, but the Gloucester Road tube is only one block away. And the location of the tube station meant that we rarely had to change lines – all of our various destinations were reachable on the three lines that used the Gloucester Road station.

We don’t have much more to say – and frankly, that’s a good thing. We do not have one single complaint about any facet of our stay at the Bentley – in fact, we don’t have one single element of even faint praise. And in the end we’re thankful that in the future we will now be saved the effort of researching all the various hotels in the London area – we know we’ll be staying at the Bentley.

Welcoming beautiful rooms

The staff were really helpful and welcoming. Beautiful hotel and the bedrooms were wonderful. We both had King rooms and they were spacious and also had jacuzzi baths. Wonderful I would definitely go back
