...well that's what the IH group pf hotels intended for this property, and they're not far off. From the decor, to the food, amenities, staff and last but not least, the Social Evenings which for 3 nights a week included snacks, soft drinks as well as alcoholic beverages like lager and a selection of wines. Hearty breakfast aside, if you decide not to use the kitchen to cook, there are numerous eateries on your doorstep. Westfield shopping mall is situated right in front of the entrance.

The TV in your room has connectivity with Apple Air but you'll find yourself tempted to visit the Vue cinema once in a while, then the bars knowing you don't require a designated driver to walk you to bed! How convenient. And if you didn't feel like stepping outside the building, the Holiday Inn, also part of the IH group, is located 3 floors below (you'd need to descend to the ground floor lobby to use a different elevator to access its reception) and has a Bar and Restaurant on the third floor.

For smokers, designated smoking areas are either outside in front of the building or on the third floor balcony of the Holiday Inn. Food and beverages can be charged to your room which is convenient in case you've forgotten to bring your wallet or purse with you. Note: expenses when charged to your room account/bill attracts Reward Points.

Teas and coffees are complimentary throughout the day in the lounge area which also has a designated TV room at the back that is sometimes hired out for private events/meetings.

The gym is adjacent to the laundry room which has an observation glass in between. Equipment is adequate however due to limited space there is no bench press or free-weights. Fortunately guests residing at Staybridge are able to access the Holiday Inn's gym on the third floor necessitating using the lifts again via the ground floor. The Holiday Inn's gym is situated next to its treatment rooms which I found to be very hygienic. I booked a Sports massage and received a very satisfying treatment by a qualified masseuse. Treatments had to be paid for by cash or card separately at Holiday Inn.

The gym in Staybridge overlooks West Ham stadium whereas Holiday Inn's gym is facing Westfield mall.

The breakfast buffet was quite comprehensive. I found it a challenge to resist a heavy breakfast at times, tempted with desserts that meant having to spend more time in the gym, which itself is tricky if you wake up late and don't want to miss breakfast. Fortunately trays are provided for guests to help themselves to breakfast in their rooms. I did find myself doing this a few times so I could finish my exercise followed by a late breakfast. As well as a fridge there is a microwave included in your kitchen plus an oven and hob if you decide to reheat the food...or indeed cook...which I did on one occasion with food purchased from the vegetable and poultry section in the nearby supermarket. Delish...but I digress.

We were booked in a suite which included a separate double bedroom with a spacious ensuite bathroom. Both rooms included a TV. Separating the kitchen and lounge is a practical workdesk with power-points, handy when you're working with your laptop. The rooms are well furnished. For a change of scenery or if you're meeting anyone, a stroll up to the lounge can be useful. Wifi is available throughout the building.

The Staybridge Stratford is overall a good property. Areas of improvement could be advance warning of Exit routes as it can be quite disorienting during alarm activation of knowing which way to go if you're at the opposite end of the main elevators...speaking of which, if you are allocated a room further away from the lifts, then the walk can feel tedious.

Parking is available underground but needs to be paid for as this is not part of the hotel. Overall I enjoyed my time at Staybridge. It's location is ideal being close to transport links, shops and restaurants and above all staff were very welcoming.

This is not for everyone but it is my go to place in London, well actually about 20 minutes out of the city by tube. If you want a hotel with a lush bar and super restaurant then this is not for you. However, it’s right next to a major shopping mall with a really decent food court, Waitrose, and a Marks and Sparks. Good sized rooms with windows that really open. Proper kitchen facilities and dishwasher aimed at people on longer stays. Nothing like fresh air to cheer you up rain or shine. If you can’t get a booking then you can try the Holiday Inn next door until there’s a vacancy but the rooms are smaller and the windows are firmly shut. Stayed here more than 20 times over the years and never been disappointed (except when they’re full). Also super handy to London City Airport by DLR, beats LHR/LGW.

A very good hotel, situated behind the main road in Vauxhall, a couple of hundred yards from the London eye. One of the best rooms I’ve stayed in. This hotel doesn’t do evening meals, only breakfast. Unusually there is a kitchenette in the room, so you can make your own dinner, if you don’t want to eat out. Novell idea for this type of hotel. I would recommend this hotel and when I visit London again, I will try to stay here.

Fantastic location, wonderful greeting by professional staff. Invited to a guest night offering nibbles and alcohol from 7-8pm. This was a nice touch for a drink before heading off to a concert as was the upgrade to a larger room. Great selection at breakfast too which was included in the price. The room was very quiet which was perfect. Bed slightly hard for my liking the only negative I can say. Highly recommended.

I have just checked in to this hotel and had a delightful check-in experience from Natalija, Mizan and Mariya - 3 smiling faces who cannot do enough to please their guests. Room is excellent too - 5 stars!
