Airport hotels tend to favor function over fashion, but this five-star Sofitel skillfully balances both. The common areas are decidedly contemporary (glass chandeliers, futuristic furnishings), while the 605 guestrooms are outfitted with tan leather sofas and sleek hardwood headboards, with pops of deep burgundy and olive-green. There’s no need to leave for good food: Savor 31 teas from around the world at Tea 5, get your white tablecloth fix at La Belle Epoque (the only fine dining restaurant in Heathrow dishes out gourmet French fare and holds three AA rosettes), or settle in for a fireside nightcap and small plates at Sphere, the lobby cocktail bar.
In the Area
Catching a flight out of chaotic Heathrow is mercifully convenient thanks to a covered walkway linking the property directly to Terminal 5. If you have time to venture away from your gate, take the Heathrow Express to central London; you’re less than half an hour away from Paddington Station, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Or take a cab to nearby Windsor Castle; the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world offers tours of its grounds, including fall and winter visits to the ornate Semi-State Rooms (provided the queen isn’t entertaining).
How to Get There
Stayed overnight prior to an early flight. Comfortable, good service, good food.
Rooms are laid out to a good standard: comfy bed, very good reclined armchair for reading or TV viewing, decent-sized desk for work.
My husband and I stayed here for one night as we had an early flight the next morning. The staff at the reception desk were efficient polite and friendly and we were quickly checked in and shown to our room which was spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. The beds were more than comfortable and we enjoyed an excellent nights sleep. We were having some trouble with the computer when trying to print off our boarding passes so a lovely young lady came over immediately and not only sorted out the problem but printed our passes out for us. Thank you.
Excellent friendly and helpful staff. The room was very spacious and clean. There was a great choice of food and drink in the bars and restaurants. Parking was easy and the location is the best for terminal 5.
We stayed at the Heathrow Sofitel prior to flying to Berlin for a double birthday holiday.
We had stayed at the Sofitel before and liked the fact that we could park our car (for a cost) knowing that it was safe and convenient for our return after the trip.
On arrival our checkin was done by Marion who immediately upgraded us to a luxury room. This was excellent of course and we were even sent up a little 'Birthday' surprise delivered by a really friendly Giani.
The breakfast is superb with such a wide choice of quality items.
Another successful stay, many thanks Sofitel!
