Shaftesbury Hyde Park International Hotel - London
Reviewed 2 days ago

Stayed here for a long weekend May 18, paid a pretty high price for a double room, but I guess this was due to the Royal Wedding being this particular weekend. The hotel is in a good, quiet location near to Hyde Park (surprisingly!!) and Bayswater (which was unfortunately closed the weekend we were there) and Queensway Tube Stations so very easy to get out and about. Hotel is modern and smart with good helpful staff, room was a double which was just about big enough with the bed taking up a good portion of the area, all the usual amenities, minibar etc, one downside was the aircon didn’t seem to work to good, It didn’t change as required, not a massive issue for England in May but later in the year it could be an issue, overall a decent hotel would stay again if I could secure a decent price for the room.

Very friendly staff

Charlston at reception was very warm and accommodating, almost like he knew I had a stressful time getting to the location, he kindly upgraded my room.

A very pleasant stay by all standards. Thank you Shaftsbury Hyde Park and thank you Charlston.

Wonderful place

I was there for 14 nights, the place is lovely and very close to city’s landmarks.
The good thing about it is the people in reception . Specially Charleston ,Mari,Vinson and Gabriela .

I surely recommend it and I’ll be back to it again.

Small rooms, good location near subway

This hotel is only a two minutes walk from the Bayswater subway station, and a short walk from Hyde Park. The location is good, because you can go anywhere from here.

The room was tiny, but the price isn't bad at all, so that's what you get.

We chose to buy breakfast somewhere else, and enjoyed it under some trees in Hyde Park every morning, which was lovely.

An odd experience

I booked and paid for this hotel, but never actually got to stay there. After a long day I arrived at the hotel to be told my room was closed for ‘maintenance’. I assumed they had double booked it, but they offered to move me to their sister hotel “just across the road”. I didn’t have any choice so I agreed and a bell boy carried my case to the other hotel. When we arrived, we waited outside for a long time, buzzing the intercom to be let inside. A few minutes later an angry lady opened the door and told us it was her house, not a hotel! After lots of confusion we found the actual sister hotel I was supposed to be staying in but it was all still rather an odd experience!
