How to Get There
Exactly an English hotel, clean, modern and off course with small rooms. Just a few steps to Hide Park and few minutes to Oxford Street. Staff are friendly and great. Breakfast items are quite good and quality is fair.
Unique, luxurious stay. Comfortable, clean and well-equipped rooms with beautiful views over London (stayed at 11th floor). Breakfast was very enjoyable with many fresh ingredients served. Excellent location, within walking distance from Paddington station, Hyde Park and Oxford Street, also good access to public transport.
We stayed at the Royal Lancaster on our honeymoon. We were very impressed with the modern amenities including power window shades, comfortable beds and very nice bathrooms. It wasn’t as close to downtown London as we would have liked, but it was much much nicer than a similarly priced downtown hotel. The service was excellent as well. I will stay there again when I return to London.
I last stayed here over 5 years ago and the rooms were in need of refurbishment back then, looking dated, noisy and a bit dreary! Fortunately it seems they have now started a complete revamp of rooms and open areas. As a result the room I had on the 5th floor seemed newly done with clean and contemporary decor including the bathroom. The windows appear to have been made more soundproof with electric day and night blinds. Air-con working nicely and plenty of sockets and USB charge points. The bathroom looked immaculately finished down to the grout, sealant and even ‘invisible’ bits under the sink - more often than not in hotels these bits are very sloppily finished by tradespeople as they think no-one will notice! The only tiny flaw I noticed was the alignment of the towel rail with the tiles but that really is nit-picking! Floor and shower both have non-slip tiles and shower has both a top head and removable head - all working perfectly.
As a whole I’ve been to many hotels which claim to be 3 or 4 stars which they maybe were 30 years ago but really should be refurbished every 15-20. Here they’re doing that albeit about 10 years too late but nonetheless it’s getting there.
Only one gripe during my stay was that due to the ongoing refurbishments, the breakfast restaurant is hidden away along a corridor and down some stairs which had me going round in circles for a while due to lack of signage. Initial service was very slow but once inside fairly attentive. No more hot buffet but having to order from a menu - full English of course (continental buffet still there). I’m wondering if the size and layout will change as it did feel a little claustrophobic compared to how I remember it being.
Good work overall and long overdue!
Hotel close to the Lancaster Gate tube station but you have to walk the 500m and it’s usually raining. Staff really nice especially in the restaraunt during breakfasts. Close to Hyde park very clean would recommended.
