Great hotel

Warm welcome, great location and nice studio room for four. Good service and the price is ok if you compare other good hotels in central London. Good to visit south bank which is very nice. I can recommend it for sure.

Lovely hotel, but let down by very rude concierge!

I was impressed with the hotel generally. It's a modern building and the room was well maintained. As a family of 4 we found it very spacious and comfortable. Location is very central and convenient. Restaurants are quite good and the breakfast is of a high standard. Views are very nice from the room. My only real criticism is the lack of drop-off areas at the hotel - if there are any, they must be poorly sign-posted because I never saw them when arriving in a rental car.

I would have rated this hotel as 5 stars, but there was a very unpleasant incident upon checkout that really soured our whole experience. It involved one of the concierge staff who was extremely rude and unhelpful. I am not going into detail here publicly, but the management needs to take note of what I am wanting to report, so I trust that they will respond here with a name and email address where I can lodge a formal complaint.

I would stay at the hotel again, but only subject to the above matter being satisfactorily addressed.

Racial Discrimination - Terrible Management
Reviewed 2 days ago

I stayed at the hotel in January 2019 for 4 nights on an official visit. I have travelled around the world and have visited London few times. This was first time I stayed at #Park Plaza County Hall. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and decided to book this hotel.

I was in for a rude shock. The hotel staff was quite hostile towards Indians, made racial and discriminatory remarks towards me. On a particular night, when I ordered dinner in room, they served very spicy and non-eatable food. When I complained to room service and the person who took order, he said you Indians don’t know the taste of Italian food, and should not order such food. He was quite rude as well. The guy who came to pick the food tray back, also made similar much harsher remarks. When I resisted, he was rude too.

When I pointed this out to the reception, the staff at front desk was quite indifferent as if this was a normal routine at this Hotel. Next two nights were nightmare for me.

Later, at the time of check out, I reported the matter once again and sought to speak to the General Manager of the hotel and the Chief Chef which request was plainly declined by the front desk lady.

Once I returned back home, I complained to their GM and Operations Manager. The Operations Manager James Doharty in his response and made further discriminatory remarks saying that there was a language barrier. When escalated further to GM, she acknowledged the issue but kept defending her staff.

I strongly recommend that Indians should stay away from #Park Plaza County Hall, London. I can’t say about their treatment of guests of other origins or races.

Not only the staff, but the management is also indifferent, and with my experience and various communications/ exchanges, it appears that it is the culture to discriminate against certain races at #ParkPlaza in London.

I have stayed at other hotels in London, and have always found Brits to be very warm and welcoming, though can’t say the same about this particular hotel’s management or staff.
