Made famous as Sherlock Holmes’ fictional residence and wistful by Gerry Rafferty’s hit single of the same name, Baker Street has long since delighted Londoners and visitors alike. Despite the hotel’s bread-related title, it’s not a penchant for pastries that inspired its name. Rather, it’s the chap who laid the street out in the 18th century, William Baker. Fascinating facts aside, Baker Street provides a pretty perfect base from which to explore London, thanks to its extremely convenient location.
The elegant Park Avenue Baker Street is found inside a beautiful Georgian townhouse, which is situated just a short stroll from both Baker Street and Marylebone tube stations. Start your days under the glass roof of the breakfast room before heading into Regent’s Park, or visit the wax-work residents of Madame Tussauds nearby. With easy connections to the rest of London, you’re within easy reach of the city’s best shops, museums, art galleries, theaters and restaurants.
How to Get There
I have stayed at many hotels for business over the years, and this is always my go to hotel whenever I am in London!
The rooms are fantastic and modern, with all amenities you need for your stay. Internet / Wi-Fi is free and fast.
Breakfast is great, there is a big spread and includes a la carte items too on request.
Location is perfect with 2 major tube stations a few minutes walk away, meaning you get get anywhere around London very quickly.
I've found the staff at the hotel are friendly, genuine and kind, and will go out of their way to help you.
Looking forward to another stay again next month.
Amazingly good Budget Hotel in Central London. The staff were friendly & helpful, the room was clean & fresh, recently refurbished to a good standard. Comfortable bed, tea & coffee making facilities and decent sized flat screen TV.
I stayed here with my other half for one night. When we got to the hotel, we were greeted by polite members of staff. Our room was in the building across the road but it’s no hassle at all. The room was nicely done up, quite small but it has everything you need for a short stay in London. The checkout is quite early (by 11am) and on the day of checkout I was quite unwell so requested that we have a later check out to which the staff gave us the room for an extra 45 minutes.
My only complaint is that at around eight o’clock in the morning, the cleaners were hoovering and talking very loudly outside of our room. They also knocked on our door too which was a little bit confusing.
The location of the hotel is excellent - it’s a twenty minute walk to Selfridges/Oxford Street, and a five minute walk to Baker Street Station.
