How to Get There
Surprisingly well appointed, spacious room. Helpful staff too. The downsides are the location, between tube stations and a long taxi ride as an alternative, and my inability to get in a lift on one morning due to traffic (with a long queue for breakfast at the end of it)
We stayed in the hotel for several days at the end of October. While the hotel is in a central location and the rooms are clean, the service in the restaurant was poor. At breakfast time there was always chaos and the staff seemed unable to keep the food items replenished. We made the mistake of eating in the restaurant one evening and the waiter was very rude to my husband. We did try to raise the matter directly with the hotel but never got a reply. Unfortunately, we will not be staying in a Novotel again.
Such a shame that I can't give this hotel a higher score - I'd like to, but for one major issue. The vast majority of the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms are lovely and the food was great. However, my visit was spoiled by having my debit card details copied and over £900 taken from my account. I made the mistake of leaving my wallet inside my jacket in my room for a few hours one afternoon. When I returned to my room, the cleaners had just left and were outside. Upon checking my wallet I noticed the debit card wasn't positioned how I'd left it in the wallet, but as some Euros I'd left in there were still present I thought nothing more. That evening my bank contacted me to inform me of several suspicious transactions on my account and I had to cancel my debit card and credit cards. I hadn't used my debit card all week and, up until that point it had been in my possession throughout my stay. The fraud and the presence of the cleaners is just too much of a coincidence. No one else had access to my card and the card had not been used that week by me. I discussed the matter with the management who initially agreed that on the face of it, it did look as though there might be a problem of dishonesty within the cleaning team. Further conversations took place and the promise of a full investigation was made. Emails were subsequently exchanged upon my return home and as a gesture of goodwill points were added to my loyalty card. However, the 'investigation' has dragged on for several weeks now without a result and the last email I received from a member of the management team stated that he 'would not expect a member of his team to be dishonest.' I should think not! Otherwise why would he have employed them in the first place? What the management should be alive to however, is the possibility that one or more of their team is dishonest and is taking advantage of their position of trust.
Incidentally, a work colleague left a pair of GHD hair straighteners in her room after checking out. She called the hotel to ask them to keep them to one side but was told that the room had been cleaned and that no hair straighteners had been found! Really? I suspect they had been found, it's just that they hadn't been handed in!
Such a shame these incidents occurred as they ruin it for all the other hard-working and honest members of staff in what is otherwise a lovely hotel. I would not stay here again.
From Novotel London Waterloo Hotel, public transport can easily be taken from Lambeth Palace Stops to visit other areas or even for rail station or to the airport. Staff on the desk are professional and very helpfull! Thank you all.The only point Hotel would assess is to decrease daily price which seems a litle high!
We enjoyed our stay in the Novotel Waterloo. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean and tidy. The hotel is close to the tube stations and nice walk from the hotel to Westminster. My only downside is the layout of the bedroom. It was spacious but we didn’t like the sink outside the toilet. It could easy be boxed in creating an enclosed en-suite. This is only a personal preference and I’m sure other people don’t mind but we found it a bit off putting. Otherwise, lovely hotel, very clean and very friendly, helpful staff.
