AWFUL. So disappointing, never again

AVOID, extremely disappointing as a Novotel member. Never again.

We stayed here to finish off a 3 week trip to England - it became the worst 3 nights of the trip.

Rooms are TINY - we were paying an extortionate amount for a ‘family’ room, hahaha what a joke. It was a small bed squeezed as close to a bathroom as possible with a sofa bed literally squashed in beside it. Just about room to tiptoe around.

No bedside furniture just a strange oval shaped ledge with not enough room to put anything on, no alarm clock and no sockets so you can’t put your phone in by the bed for the alarm.

There was no room for our suitcases so we had to balance them on top of each other and so could not actually get anything out of them - made for a very difficult stay.

Let’s talk about the bed. OMG the sheets were like the worst quality rough basic cotton you could ever find. I literally don’t know where they found them. I’ve never seen sheets like it. Also they were faded to a dirty cream - blech, it made you cringe to get in. They were not changed for the stay even though there were marks on them. TERRIBLE sleep on the bed and in these sheets. I didn’t dare to look under them - if that’s what the covers were like.

The pillows were so old and poor quality the foam inners had become sliced in two! They tried to sort of fold them over when they made the bed. I’ve never used such awful pillows.

On to the toilet - so small you had to squeeze in, an average man would have trouble doing this. My son had to manoeuvre himself in. Also it’s separate to the shower and basin so you cannot wash your hands, you have to shimmy around the bed to the bathroom to wash hands.

The towels!!! Wow my twenty year old towels I use for my dog are better quality and condition. The towels were that white that has faded to grey and were so old and threadbare they barely dried you. They were also not folded properly just sort of bundled up - someone seriously needs to train housekeeping, this is basic stuff - how to fold a towel.

Not only were the towels in this condition they seemed unable to leave the correct amount and we had to ask EVERY day for extra towels. How hard can it be? There were only three of us in the room...same with the toilet rolls - how about leaving an extra toilet roll for your guests not having to make them ask for one?

The actual cleanliness of the place was very very poor - plastic shower in questionable state of clean which leaked over the floor and the floor mat was so thin it did nothing. Pubic hair in the bath

Underneath the beds but still able to see it was dusty and dirty and an old sock was there!!

Even the location is questionable - it’s still a good ten minute walk + with suitcases to the train, especially if you have an early start. It’s also not under cover and it rained when we left so we were soaked.

If you are looking for a hotel for the Heathrow Express before you go home don’t choose this one. Go for the Hilton it’s right at the station and quality of the stay will be leaps and bounds above this place.

I would say this is a 2 star hotel at best - cannot understand how it is a Novotel and has seriously made me question both my loyalty to the brand and my future use of it - usually we go for the Novotel because it’s easy to rely on and a safe bet.

Amazing hotel

Had an amazing two night stay in this beautiful, modern, clean hotel. Great location close to bars and restaurants and 5-10 minute walk to Paddington station. Check in and out was fine and all staff we spoke to were very friendly and professional. Would most definitely stay here again.

Small rooms but friendly staff

The hotel is situated very near to paddington station which makes it very strategic as you can get to almost everywhere in London. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was a bit small for 30m2 as shown on the website and we booked for queen and single bed but the room had queen and sofa bed which was kinda different than what we have booked. Nevertheless, we did not make any complains considering the hotel was full and the staff were great. Breakfast was very good
