Great location, no air-con
Reviewed 2 days ago

We stayed here in mid-September 2018. My husband and I booked here at the last minute as we had to cancel a 4 night trip to Paris due to my husband suffering from asthma and advised by the hospital in London not to go to Paris. The hotel we were staying in was fully booked so we had to find somewhere quickly. As Accor members we booked this hotel. On arrival there is no one to help you with your baggage but we were greeted by the most charming French staff member by the name of Eric at the reception desk. He was so welcoming and friendly. Our room was quite nice, the soundproofing was excellent; the bathroom was very good - it had a nifty button that turned the glass from see-through to opaque so the bathroom became private; big bath with shower in; good toiletries. The carpet was a bit stained in the bedroom but overall the room was clean. The bad point was there was no air-con, only evaporative cooling, which didn't really cool the room, so it remained quite hot and stuffy. The location was excellent though, near Borough Markets - one of our favourite places in London! It was also near Tower Bridge tube station and the Southwark Cathedral which is beautiful. You could walk to the River Thames and it was a really great place to wander around. The buffet breakfast was really good and had everything you needed for a good start to the day. Overall would recommend this hotel but wouldn't stay there in hot weather due to no air-con.

Lots of building work. Dirty and messy. The executive room was too expensive for what it offered. The breakfast was descent. Nothing to remember about the service.
Will try a different hotel, next time in London

Building work
Reviewed 2 weeks ago

My company paid for my stay so I’m not sure how much it cost but I hope they got a reduced price as there was lots of building work going on in the hotel, particularly on my floor. Room was a decent sized and provided all mod cons. The hotel isn’t in a great location, quite a walk from stations and good restaurants etc.

Somewhere over the Rainbow.

If location, professional caring obliging staff, cleanliness and price are not the things you consider when choosing your Hotel, then don’t stay at this Hotel. This particulat Novotel was the choice of all our Hotel experiences during our 6 week stay in Europe and 9 countries. We where made feel like family from the instant we arrived, until the moment we walked out the door to return to Canberra. It was our dream Hotel. Thank you guys.
