How to Get There
Location is really the best about this hotel - close to the city center, tube station etc. At the same time, pictures on Tripadvisor and reality are quite different so lower your expectations. Rooms are very simple and would need more care - the carpet in our room was quite dirty and torn, the sink was clogged so water took ages to go down, water container in the toilet was also broken.
Breakfast is good but you only have two options on the menu which can be boring if you stay for several days. Bed and pillows were great though.
The hotel itself is perfectly okay, in a decent location with clean enough rooms, but I've honestly never stayed in a hotel as noisy as this. It's not only street noise either (which is LOUD): you can hear everything in the rooms next door, there's the constant whirr of the elevator, there's a pub just down the road so lorries are rolling barrels in and out from about 6am, and recycling trucks operate close by so, this morning, I woke to the relaxing sound of breaking glass bottles. Oh, and I think the Northern Line must run directly under the hotel because you can hear trains rumbling past too. Don't come for a peaceful night's sleep.
I enjoyed my stay at My Bloomsbury, which is a traditional London hotel close to "everything". It is very easy to get around using the public transport which are widely available near the hotel. We got an upgrade for just 15GBP per day which was a very good offer and the Superior room was quit nice. I do recommend staying here if you want to live centrally and in a quiet area with a lot of good breakfast and dinner options.
Ended up at this hotel, just checked in. A kiss in my booking made me have only a single room reservation, I managed to get an upgrade for a fee. Which was a bit high considering I’m staying at the hotel for 5 nights.
As I got my upgrade and was explained that I now got one of the best rooms (the manager in charge did a good job at supporting me and it’s on now way his fault this review is poor) I can only state that my reaction when I walk in to my now double room, which is supposed to be great, is utter disappointment. Dirty full floor carpet. How about a fridge as a side table for the bed? Or walls that needs to be repainted. And then of course my favorite, a TV that is placed so you can’t look straight at it when lying in bed. Because everyone loves watching TV from an angle. How 2 people are supposed to be in this room at the same time I don’t understand.
The website promises a great deal. Reality does not live up to the pictures.
There is really nothing save the location to redeem this hotel. The staff are well intentioned incompetents with poor systems and bad processes. Who ever owns this small chain isn’t a hotelier and has no attention to details. It’s unchanged from when it opened, I think nearly 20 years ago. It’s all reflected in the price, which is reasonable for this part of London. I visit London very often and stay in this rare. I only stay in this hotel when all nearby options are exhausted. Always disappoints
