How to Get There
This is a nice little hotel in a great location. Plenty of cafes & restaurants nearby and within a 5 minute walk you’re on the Southbank of the Thanes with the Tate Modern, Globe Theatre, Millenium Bridge and all the other Southbank Landmarks.
I’ve stayed in this hotel quite a few times and find the staff really friendly and helpful.
The restaurant is a Marco’s New York Italian and is average really. There’s a good selection for breakfast but definitely add that to your bill in advance as it’s only £9.90 compared to £16.45 if you add it on the day. There’s an M&S food just over the road, as well as Pret and other coffee shops so there is plenty to choose from food wise.
The rooms are decent and comfortable, my only complaint would be the aircon isn’t the most effective.
Happy to recommend this hotel. Very comfortable night's rest. Quiet, clean , well positioned for restaurants etc and helpful staff. I was in a room right by the busy road but I could not hear any traffic noise. I liked the walk in shower. Tv was a good size and not too high on the wall.
On the whole the hotel is ok but lacked on a few details which could have made a perfect trip:
The beds are not king size as advertised but two single beds put together, not quite the same thing and the pillows are hard as brick.
Fresh orange juice at breakfast would be nice instead of the concentrate based one on offer.
The bar was understaffed on Sunday evening : we had to clear the table ourself and other customers were leaving due to the wait.
On the plus side the staff as a whole were incredibly nice and helpful.
It’s a pity the quality of mercure hotels is so variable from one hotel to the next. As a chain you would expect the same level of quality throughout.
Didn’t realise was marathon weekend but very handy for borough market and shard. We were given a small room but soon changed us to a better room once asked. It was strangely quiet on marathon day but as soon as we walked 8 mins towards sky garden we were part of the marathon small crowd that gathered and got a brilliant view of Mo Farah.
Room, food, and particularly staff all excellent let down by room not being cleaned when we returned to hotel at 16.30 the day before we were leaving although we had been out since 9.15
we had had this problem on a previous trip. we were given complimentary drink at bar but that does not solve the problem
