How to Get There
I have stayed at this hotel many times and it has been a favourite in London.
Stayed last weekend with my wife in room 221.
There was a very strong pungent odour in the room which we assumed was just a cleaning product that would go away.
It didn't and it made my wife feel rather unwell. She slept very badly, and we think she had an allergic reaction to it.
We raised this in the morning and received a mumbled apology and promise to check with housekeeping. Have heard nothing since.
I think it is an essence that's being funneled throughout the ventilation system.
Have any others experienced this problem?
Unfortunately we won't be able to stay at any Mercure hotels again until we get a definitive answer on this as we assume they are introducing this to all their hotels.
The scores reflect this trip only due to this problem.. previous trips would have scored much higher
One word for our stay - outstanding. The location was perfect, only a short walk to southwark underground and London bridge train station. The bus station outside also has a bus that runs every few minutes into the centre. Borough market is literally down the road, absolutely worth a visit. Plenty of bars and cafes around to grab a bite to eat or a pint. The hotel is spotless and the decor is so quirky! All the staff we dealt with were so helpful and friendly. Our room was nothing short of fabulous, plenty of space and spotlessly clean. We booked a privilege room and let me tell you that bed was like sleeping on clouds. The fridge was stocked with drinks every day, comp slippers and robes annnd a Nespresso machine. Thank you for an amazing stay we will most certainly be back again!
We stayed here for mine and my daughters birthday, the hotel was told about our birthdays before our arrival and they added some balloons to my daughters bed , left us both some lovely cheesecake and a card. It was a great touch.
The room was nice and well decorated, the drinks in the room fridge were included in the price and the bathroom was nice, clean and modern.
Reception staff were very helpful and after checking out held our luggage securely until we were due to go home.
Breakfast was nice, a lot of options!
Very much enjoyed staying at the Mercure London Bridge. Modern hotel, friendly efficient staff. We stayed in a privilege room as there was an offer on to upgrade. Nice room, very quiet even though it overlooked the road. Decent walk in shower and bathroom. Great choice at breakfast. Comfortable bar area, served a good g&t and not too expensive for London! Freshly made cookies in reception was a nice touch 😊 Would definitely stay again!
A modern hotel with slightly quirky decor and style, but in a great location. Check in was done by a guy standing in the middle of the lobby - no formal check in desk. The room was small - have been in larger Travelodge rooms - but adequate. The bathroom was very modern but again small.
Shower not well designed - screen didn't protect the bathroom floor from the water (just not wide enough) and the loose shower head was attached to the wall at waist height (when every other hotel in the world has it at or above head height). Also not helped by the shower starting to drip noisily for no reason at 6am!
But despite niggles, this was a great spot for a brief weekend stay in central London at an affordable price. Would probably visit again.
