Nice Apartment but appalling customer service

I'm not normally one to write reviews but felt this needed commenting on. I booked an apartment for a two night stay last minute and to my dismay realised upon reaching the front desk that I had in fact booked for the following weekend. An honest mistake, which I thought would have been straight forward to rectify seeing as I had only made the reservation around 20 minutes prior to reaching the check in desk.

Upon reaching the desk I was told I would have to make another booking, and they would 'see' if they could arrange a refund for my unused stay next week. I told them that was not going to work (was not going to risk being out of pocket over £600). Much back and forth between the reception staff and no common sense. A 'manager' was called in and I raised the issue with him who told me 'I should be more careful with my bookings'.

I demanded to speak to head office who eventually were happy to grant me my stay at the price I had initially paid (even though the current weekend rate was advertised online for £40 cheaper).

All in all, an awful customer service experience that needs addressing. I work in the industry myself and understand the pressures of working customer facing roles, but the behaviour from staff here was downright rude and disrespectful, especially considering the prices charged.

Apartment was nice, but a little worn out and dirty.

Would not stay again.

We booked a 2 bed apartment to meet up in town for business meeting/dinner, deciding to have more space than we would normally get when we have to share a twin room in a hotel.
The Apartments are located near to London Bridge/The Shard, and within walking distance of lots of different restaurants and bars, so a good location, but a distance from the West End without getting a train/tube.
The apartment was clean and airy, 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, small kitchen/sitting room and all mod cons. To be honest we didn't spend much time here, but it was great to have our own separate space and the cost was really reasonable (through Secret Escapes). You do have to provide a lot of information when checking in (driving licence etc) which is photocopied and a lot of information requested (of both of us staying). When combined with credit card information it was a bit of a worry to both of us. I don't know if this is normal for apartment stays (even only 1 night), but you certainly don't have to provide this for a hotel stay!!
The only negative about our stay was the noise. We were only on the 4th floor and the noise from the street was very audible day and night. I was woken at 5am but resident in the room/floor above clomping around in shoes, for the best part of an hour. So, not the quietest of places to stay! but we were probably unlucky. A high floor stay would probably have been quieter as far as street noise goes.
If you were in London for a week, I would say that this is far better value than staying in a hotel. For just one night its probably not something I would repeat though.

Couldn’t ask for more - great alternative to a hotel

I stayed with my son in Marlin Empire Square apartments for 3 nights. From the moment we got a very warm welcome and keys to our apartment, things could not have gone better. Firstly, and most importantly, our apartment was incredibly spacious, decorated to a very high specification and with a lovely view of the Shard. For our travels around London, the near access to Borough tube station allowed us to get to most of London with great ease. Then when it came to lunch or dinner we were spoilt by choice with great restaurants nearby, including Borough market.

I rarely take time to write reviews but stayed in one of the two bedroom penthouse apartments and was absolutely blown away. The property has the most amazing views and what must be one of the best private terraces in London. Check in was efficient and hassle free and the staff were very helpful. Miguel (I think he's the manager) went out of his way to make sure our stay was great. Location is ideal as Borough and London Bridge stations are close by and you feel like you are in the heart of the City. Make sure you take a stroll to Borough Market (5-10 minute walk) for breakfast or lunch, coffee or a drink. Highly recommended!
