A good place to stay for the City of London
Reviewed 1 week ago

The staff are always friendly. I have stayed in several different apartments in the building. All of them have been clean and quiet. The apartments are convenient for public transport. The kitchens are usually well equipped and there are grocery shops close by - one is next door. The views from the higher apartments with balconies are excellent. Sometimes there are minor lacks in the equipment, but generally they are easy to live in.

Marlin Apartments

Excellent with great kitchenette and a balcony. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The parking was cheap and secure for central London. Aldgate East tube station a 2 minute walk away and Brick Lane a 5 minute walk away for a good night and day experience.

Some good bits, more bad
Reviewed 4 weeks ago

So, the good bits...
The location of the apartments is good with very early access to Aldgate tube and very easy walking to Pettycoat Lane, Brick Lane and Old Spittlefield market.
We found the staff, especially the ladies, were really friendly and helpful.
Bathrooms were newly refurbished and very nice.
Now for the bad bits....
The general condition was poor, with burn marks on foots stool, stains on a very saggy sofa and cigarette buts on the balcony.
There was a constant buzzing in the apartment (no.39, fifth floor) we were told on out departure it was the boiler, but it was an annoying sound that penetrated the apartment and prevented sleep. We queried it on the first morning but no one identified what it was until we left so we bought earplugs!
The pillows were too big. I know this sounds daft but it was impossible to sleep without getting a sore neck.
The TV ran through a sky box, but had no sky channels. When we queried this we were told we had to pay 5 pounds a night for it. A surprise for a supposedly 4star.

We booked this through Secret Escapes for a girlie weekend away and were disappointed. Normally they are consistently high standard and you get lovely extras. There were no extras with this and no great luxury.
