Wonderful romantic stay
Reviewed 5 days ago

My wife and I were in London for a rare couple time ( daughter and dog safely with Grandma)

The Marriott Grosvenor Square was the first hotel we ever stayed together as a couple, nearly 9 years ago and it was our first real chance to come back ..... that combined with tickets to the Michael Buble concert in Hyde Park.

I made contact in advance with the hotels guest relations Manager Louis Galloway, explaining our history with the hotel and to ask what romantic touches could be made possible? I won’t share the details, as everyone has their own ideas of romance, however Louis exceeded all expectations!

We met Louis both at check in and the following morning. He could not have made us feel more special and for such a large hotel the whole experience was so personal. Our room was beautiful and had a small patio area also. Marriotts tend to have great beds and bedding and the Grosvenor Square hotel did not disappoint.

It’s worth mentioning that our experience at reception was also excellent. Well done Marriott Grosvenor Square and once again thank you to the hotels prize asset Louis!

Absolutely outstanding service!

I arrived after a long flight from Atlanta and my room wasn't ready. However, the front desk manager, Oihane Azcona, was extremely apologetic and upgraded me to a a room with a patio, which was a very welcome gesture, especially as I was in London to celebrate my 40th Birthday with friends.
Unfortunately after taking a well needed shower two workman appeared at my door saying there was a leak coming from my shower into the kitchen, which they obviously needed to sort immediately. They tried to fix it but the next morning when I showered again the same issue occurred. The Hotel manager then called me to explain that unfortunately they would need to move me to sully resolve the situation. I was a little disappointed at first as the room was lovely. However, when I returned from shopping a few hours later they had moved all my things to an even better room with a patio on the same floor! The room and bathroom were huge, very modern, and nicely decorated.
I am fortunate enough to travel all over the world with my job and stay in some amazing and luxurious hotels, but I can honestly say the service at this hotel is one of the best I have ever seen and will definitely be returning. They truly gave me a Birthday to remember and I am extremely grateful.
As a side note, I ordered room service one night and the food was excellent - the tuna tartare was outstanding!
Thank you again!

Poor experience
Reviewed 1 week ago

I had a rather poor experience with London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square and I am very much dissatisfied with its service.
Towards my business trip to London, I, as a Silver Elite member, reserved a room there.
But arriving at the hotel, a rather unpleasant surprise was awaiting me, it turned out that the room I had booked well-in advance was not vacant and, to cap it all, there was no other appropriate room that could be offered either. As a result, I was obliged to spend the whole night in a completely unsuitable low standard room, deprived of any comfort and care, and was not able to have a due rest before a series of important meetings scheduled for the next day.
This totally unacceptable situation and discomfort caused much inconvenience for me and significantly impaired my general experience with Marriott.

Great Location - Hotel needs a refresh.

Stayed here for one night in transit back to the States. In my haste, meant to book Grosvenor House and booked this hotel instead. Identified my error upon arrival at Heathrow and too late to change without penalty.

Overall, the hotel just felt a little tired, the rooms are extremely small which I know isn't unusual for London. Had a king size bed with 2.5' on one side of the bed and 3' on the other side of the bed. The A/C in the room was unresponsive but was quite hot in London so might have been on overload.

The Club was generous in size and had good offerings and a large TV. Was quiet at night, but very active during the breakfast hour with limited seating. Located in the basement of the hotel so felt somewhat like a corporate cafeteria.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful upon check-in and check out. Were experiencing computer issues so had to email my final invoice the following day which arrived without error.

The location of the hotel is excellent, easy to walk to Marble Arch tube station or Bond Street tube station, nice walk to Picadilly Circus or Buckingham Palace.

For me, if you have some extra dollars to spare for a longer stay, the Grosvenor House (a JW Marriott property) is about 3-4 blocks away and provides a better experience with larger rooms and an updated feel.
