How to Get There
Definitely the Location of this property makes up for the little outdated rooms and toilet.with a little renovation of the toilets and rooms this would be a killer property to stay. My stay overall was pleasant.
Again im back to the hotel, as i love to stay in it because of the staff and near a lot of shops, restaurants and coffee shops and i m planning to back again in Jan 2019. This were my first time to have breakfast in the hotel i didn’t liked much it need to include more choices because its limited.
Visited the Marriott Grosvenor Square for an awards ceremony, which isn't possibly a fair way of reviewing a hotel, however the quality of the food at the banquet was very good considering that there were serving a few hundred people. Drinks as usual in these venues were expensive, although service was very good.
Had a generally good 5 night stay (in two rooms) at this Marriott property when we were in town for Philadelphia Eagles playing at Wembley. We're Marriott Platinum Elite Lifetime and , therefore, had access to the Executive lounge in the basement which had a wonderful staff and was probably the best part of the hotel.
Hotel is old, rooms are tiny and bathrooms are in desperate need of an upgrade but the overall genial staff and location saved the day.
After check-out and signing charges for both rooms that were consistent with what we reserved , we received an updated folio days later showing that they changed the rate for the final night for both rooms to more than double what we reserved and charged our credit card for those new fees. (This amounted to close to $800 USD new charges total). Is that even legal ??
I've now had long and expensive phone calls with two members of the front desk ( I have their names but won't name them) and a long email to the finance office at the property . To date, only one room charge has been reversed.
Yesterday, I received an email from the general manager - Giulio Di Lello - stating that the room charge has been refunded and attached a receipt as proof. That was done 6 days after our stay and was for only one room. This proves to me that he didn't read my email to the finance office which clearly stated that two rooms needed to be refunded and that I had requested Marriott rewards points as compensation for my time and expense in trying to get this error resolved.
Every correspondence with them has stated that I need to wait 15 business days to see my refund. It is now well over 15 business days and the charge is still outstanding.
I'm hoping that by posting here I can help other travelers to this property. Interestingly, earlier in the week, the Westin Paris Vendome attempted to raise our room rate to over $1000 USD for the stay - at first saying that I didn't understand the VAT and then blaming it on their computers. I had read a previous tripadvisor report that they do this and was able to catch it before we left.
I now believe that they try to take advantage of tourists who are too busy or too confused with the currency change to contest the charges. Interesting that these are both now Marriott properties.
Plan to post this on all social media in the hopes that someone from Marriott corporate can help.
I stay at Marriott's all the time. But this is like walking into a dream...... Heaven.... The room is like nothing g I can discribe.... The restaurant is amazing, thank you Gordon Ramsay. The staff make this property even better. I have read the reviews of the noise and the air conditioner. I was in room 129, I never heard a thing.
In regards to the Airport conditioning, simply turn it off......
Great location, Oxford Street, Bond Street, Buckingham Palace (I called HRH to see if she wanted to meet for brunch at FFIONA's but she never got back to me).
