How to Get There

The downstairs is really lovely. Our room was outdated but acceptable and the bathroom was fine but again a bit outdated and some damage to the shower.
Breakfast was definitely a bit lacklustre but not awful.
Quite a good location.
The lady in reception was really nice and helpful (Gabriella I think). It was a shame to see a man that worked there being so mean to her on Sunday.
I actually would stay there again but I would ask for a lower floor room because I did wonder how they would get anyone out of the top floor if there was a fire.

Excellent Stay

I stayed at the London Elizabeth hotel for work in November.

My company booked this for me and I have to say I was anxious about staying here after reading the reviews.

However, I'm pleased to say that I had a very enjoyable stay here and really don't know what all the fuss is about. It's a little dated but that's all part if it's charm. My room had a beautiful electric fireplace, high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows and a balcony - which I sat out on with some colleagues and had a whisky (which was brought to my room).

The bathroom was a bit tired, but the shower was hot and powerful. Reception were pleasant and the lobby and downstairs bar were wonderfully finished.

For it's price and location, this is a fantastic hotel. It's not pristine, but that's part of it's charm. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as a London base.

have time machine will travel

Having travelled the world and stay in a wide variety of hotels, I have to say that the Elizabeth Hotel in Bayswater must be one of my favourite places to visit in this part of London. It's a little like stepping into a time machine and travelling back a century to a land that time forgot, being transported like Mr Ben in the old cartoon series to a place where you can be whoever you want to be and the staff are cast as characters in a sitcom had television been around 100 years ago. The decor is original and a sight to behold, the snug bar provides a refuge from city life, a place where you half expect Charles Dickens to be sat in the corner penning a new chapter of the The Pickwick Papers.

I must say, it's a truly fantastic experience and Gabriella on reception is a true ambassador of this property and is a joy to behold. You simply do not get this level of customer service in a major chain hotel where you are simply a number with a surname. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at the Elizabeth.

Our room was large, clean and the shower was hot, The balcony was accessible which made a pleasant change from windows that never open in corporate properties. A couple of mild winter evenings spent sipping the finest malt Scotch whiskies overlooking Hyde Park in the finest city on earth, what's not to like.

OK, if you are looking for 5 star luxury with a spa and swimming pool, look away now. But if you want an authentic London town experience and friendly service, take a punt on the London Elizabeth hotel. Thank me later.
