The lift was tiny - just 2 of us with weekend cases we were taking it in turns to breathe as it moved very slowly to the 3rd floor
Our room was dark and dingy the window was small and the lighting was really poor
Each day we didn't have enough towels despite asking for extra and the room wasn't cleaned properly either before we arrived nor during our stay and the water was lukewarm
Breakfast left a lot to be desired with not a lot of choice even for continental - the porridge and baked beans were almost solid the coffee was disgusting and having seen the full english I certainly wouldn't have paid extra for it - the fruit juice was lovely and refreshing what a shame they didn't provide a selection of fresh fruit
Each table was "swept" of crumbs straight onto the chairs and floor before it was relaid for the next guest but each day we had to help ourselves to cutlery and crockery from adjoining tables in order to have what we needed
It became obvious that the guests were better looking after themselves rather than asking for help
The staff obviously don't understand what hospitality means or involves or just don't care
The best thing about this hotel is it's proximity to Lancaster Gate Underground and Hyde Park but quite honestly in hindsight I'd stay elsewhere

Afternoon Tea
Reviewed 7 days ago

Afternoon tea was in a room called the rose garden. There was a fresh rose on every table. The lady greeting us was very pleasant. You had a good choice of teas to choose from. The sandwiches were fresh, the cakes were ok. The scones with jam and cream were nice. The only negative thing really was that the table cloth was stained and had a small hole in.

I was in basement, not very nice room and not that clean, looked very dingy. Breakfast really poor.. wouldn’t recommend or stay here again.. best thing about the hotel was on door step of Hyde park. I booked a delux room 😳

The hotel doesen't have 4 stars, it deserves at least 2 stars, the staff is not as expected ( the blond girl at the reception told me that the tube could have delay because of the weather. From Lancaster gate to Liverpool street has not stops uncovered and she tried to swich my choice to a private taxi.
I had a problem with hot water it was just warm, after asking, nobody told me if it was ok or not.
The breakfast was absolutely silly, the staff seemed just woke up, messy and not able to manage the customers (i've seen asking money at the table). The rooms are old and not perfectly clean. With 80 pounds more you can stay at the cumberland just in front of Marble Arch..A real 4 stars hotel.
I've been in London like 10 times and i lived there for more than one year. The worst Hotel ever seen at this price!
They need to lern the art of hospitality! NEVER AGAIN

Rat in the room!!!
Reviewed 1 week ago

This hotel, if it even deserves that appellation, has no redeeming features whatsoever. The heating was non-existent as was warm water in the shower (either a drizzle or none at all). To crown it all, there was a rat in the room - on the cold 4th floor no less!! This would give you a good idea of how clean this place is. I was offered a new room next door but this was no consolation either not least because there was a huge gap in the door for the aforesaid rat/mouse to roam about. My stay was utterly regretful and miserable.
