La Suite West is a designer boutique hotel housed in an elegant Regency townhouse. This upscale pad sits on the edge of Hyde Park, just minutes from the heart of London, pastel-colored Notting Hill and glamorous Knightsbridge.
Aside from its covetable location, the hotel boasts interiors by celebrated designer Anouska Hempel, whose portfolio includes Louis Vuitton’s flagship Paris store. Aesthetics are meticulous, going for strong contrasts with bold lines, a minimalist palette and sculptural forms with razor-sharp angles.
A Design Hotel with serious credentials, these digs also feature luxe amenities by The White Company, sumptuous sleeping spaces and chic dining spots. The Garden Terrace is sought-after when the weather is warm, holding American White Oak tables surrounded by manicured trees, hedges and plants.
How to Get There
Stayed for a couple of nights to visit winter wonderland. Excellent location for Hyde park and two mins away from great tube and bus services. Room was nice and modern and the reception team were polite and helpful. Would recommend the hotel and would stay there again. Good value for the money we paid.
Booked hotel for one night based on location and price bracket. ( £170) for “ deluxe double”. It is fair to say I have not felt more ripped off for some time. The hallways were dark - in fact the lighting throughout and in the rooms was terrible. The carpets were stained - and clearly filthy- and the room was tiny with an even smaller bathroom. Don’t be fooled by the web pictures- it is a deeply unpleasant experience.
Whilst staying at LA Suite West hotel I was subjected to the most rude customer service I have EVER experienced in all my travels. After having an in room massage that I was told before booking would be charged to the room, The “guest relations” manager Nicoleta Raluca Tudor, told me to get dressed and go to the ATM down the road immediately, told me I am a liar and repeatedly said I am difficult.This was in the lobby in front of other guests.
Basically, I booked this stay as a treat for my wife’s birthday. We used their in-room spa service. The in room literature says this can be charged to the room. When I booked the massages I checked and was told I can charge this to the room. After a wonderfully relaxing massage for me and my wife at 8pm. After the massage the therapist asked if we were going to charge to the room and we said yes. I was then called by the receptionist to be told I have to pay the therapist in cash. I explained that I had checked before and that I did not have that kind of cash in the room and asked to please charge it to the room and I will settle the bill tomorrow on check out as previously discussed. The receptionist told me it was not possible. I asked to speak to the manager who put me through to Nicoleta who proceeded to shout at me telling me it was not possible that I was told anything different, that i was being difficult and lying and I must pay the therapists in cash right then, and that I should go down the road to the ATM “immediately” and draw the cash to pay the therapists. I explained that this is contrary to any literature I had seen and to what I was told and that I am standing covered in oil in my dressing gown after a massage. The matter was not resolved, I had to get dressed and go to the crowded lobby, with the in-room brochure that stated that the massages could be charged to the room, as I had requested. When Nicoleta was on speakerphone and knew she was being recorded she started to change her tune and told me I could charge the service to the room but even on the recording could not help but called me difficult again and raised her voice. She told me she had not written any such in-room literature! Basically, this was all happening with your guests in the lobby, my wife in her dressing gown, bemused by this unbelievable treatment, Nicoleta being rude, calling me difficult and the shocked therapists sitting there waiting to see if they will be paid. It was a complete farce! Is this how you treat all your guests at LA Suite West? Why offer a relaxing service when straight after you are completely stressed out. Let’s just say our stay is completely ruined by this unbelievable experience.
Also most of the reception staff don’t know what is going on and some of the stuff I ordered and paid for on line was not provided. Really, shockingly poor.
Starting off with the pros, the hotel is situated perfect a 2min walk from Baywater station. But that was it.
The room small enough to feel claustrophobic and had barely enough room to fit two opened suitcases. Though the washroom was nicely tiled with marble a-likes, The point that the shower stall had no curtains nor door had made the whole washroom wet after a shower. The washroom countertop was also poorly designed with water dropping off the edge easily. Not sure if this is a London-wife problem but the hot water was not consistent during showers.
Back to the room itself, the hotel seem to have tried to design to feel more spacious by adding mirrors everywhere, which made it rather haunting along with the use of dark wood colours. The room just couldn’t be brightly lit at night and the hallways where very dark as well.
The bed was nice bed, but the ventilation was very poor and the air was dry from the blasting heat even when the “ac” was turned to the lowest temperature. We had to open windows to cool down the room and leave a sink of water to squeeze out more humidity. Aside from ripped carpet and stained walls, this is all I’ll say on the room.
One night at around 11pm, we wanted to order some food since most surrounding restaurants were closed. This includes the Greek restaurant advertised by La Suite West to be opening till 12am. We tried ordering room service as it was also advertised to be serving up till 5am the next day, but then realize that this was merely a deliveroo service that you deal directly with the external restaurant yourself. Rather false advertising as Room Service I’ll say.
Not to forget some staff could not speak proper English to understand my request.
This hotel is a dark rabbit warren of corridors. There is no lounge area, bar or any alcohol sold on site. The only food served is vegan. None of this is mentioned in any literature published.
The room was like a sauna. The window would not stay open and the air conditioning did not work properly.
Whilst at breakfast our key card was cancelled so housekeeping had to let us into our room to to retrieve our luggage.
There are better facilities and service in a Premier Inn
