Bad Vegan Food, Poor quality Rooms
Reviewed 2 days ago

The Vegan chef has left, sadly the replacement is not great. The food was of a very poor standard, the vegan croissants were very soggy, it looks like they are using cheap fixes to make the menu work, for example I ordered a crushed avocado on toast, and I got guacamole, which was revolting and the wait was ridiculous. The rooms are very tired, the duvet cover was threadbare and did not fit the duvet, plus it did have holes in it. the room overall needs an update. The noise is overwhelming here, this is one of the noisest hotels in town, you can hear people outside and people in other rooms, doors slamming, no sleep to be had here. Also the street is a little concerning there are people sitting outside openly smoking canabis, outside a number of properties just a few doors down from the hotel. We had no trouble but I was on edge with it. To be fair the reception and the waiting staff were very nice, but it is clear that they are used to dealing with complaints, when we checked in someone was complaining. I will not be back the 2 stars are for the staff.

Fantastic hotel but not great sleep

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel and we really like the location and the style of the hotel as a whole.

This time we had booked a petite double room located on basement level and the room was really cosy, had a nice marble bathroom, all the products you might need for your stay and a comfortable bed. We found the room surprisingly bright and had decent size windows facing the courtyard which we could open.

However, the room was unfortunately located under a room which was heavily trafficked in the building (assuming staff area) and our room was badly insulated - meaning that from 5am our entire room was shaking and the noise was unbearable (even for someone who is not noise sensitive) making it impossible to sleep. There was also a lot of slamming of doors in the corridor (where kitchen was located) which made our door slam every time.

I'll most definitely come back to this hotel but will then chose another room!

My last time

Gf booked this hotel due to the location and I do like the centralised location which is near the underground (tube) and away from all the crowd. There is also a few nice chinese restaurant behind the hotel.
However the room itself is less satisfying. Am greeted with a faulty door lock (faulty card) and upon entering the room is been greeted by a stained sofa. The bed looks like a double single bed and the room is not sound proof. You will be waking up to the traffic below or people from the next room when they are closing their door. Kettle for boiling water is also a little dirty on the cover. Pillow is extremely soft for a good night sleep for me.

Nice hotel but a little shabby around the edges

From the outside and in the reception area this hotel looks exceptional but unfortunately the room was in need of a lick of paint (especially the window frames) and a new carpet. There was also nothing in the minibar.

Having said that the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.

A score for vegans staying in London

We booked this place and were surprised to find out that the hotel restaurant (breakfast, lunch, tea) is vegan! Great location close to Hyde Park and within a block of two underground lines. Several modern markets close by that carry nondairy and meat-free products. Only drawbacks were some street noise (OK, it IS in the city) and the lighting in the room was a bit dim. Other than that, beautiful bathroom, big soaking tub, wet bar with fridge, cool decor.
