Overview

Boutique retreat with a rooftop bar and a 24-hour hot tub in the heart of London’s Soho

The Look

Housed within two elegant Victorian townhouses, the Sanctum Soho scores high on the design front. Candlelit interiors are dark and lavish; think deep crushed velvet chaise longues, huge leather sofas and a mirror-backed bar. Photographs of rock star regulars dot the walls, and the place is filled with quirky treasures, from the old cinema seats at the rooftop bar to graphic print skull wallpaper.

Bed and Bath

Each of the 30 guestrooms is ultra-glam. Crash Pads are petite (150 square feet), with white tiled bathrooms; Deluxe Rooms are either bright and airy with all-white furniture, or dark and sultry with minibars where you can shake your own cocktails. Suites are downright decadent; 401 is tucked under the eaves and has a circular bed and its own little balcony, and 501 has disco written all over it, with silver sequined blinds and a freestanding tub surrounded by glass pebbles, lights and a mirror glass column. Even the diamante door handles sparkle.

Beyond

The Sanctum Soho is all geared up for indulging. On the ground floor there’s restaurant No. 20, where traditional British dishes are served against a glamorous vintage backdrop, and up on the roof there’s a round-the-clock bar serving cocktails as you soak in the Hydro-Spa hot tub. Downstairs you’ll find an atmospheric underground cinema (the room once belonged to MI5), with sink-into Art Deco–style velvet chairs and a bar.

This hotel is ideally located just off Regents street handy for both Oxford street, Carnaby street and Shaftesbury Avenue. A lovely little bijoux hotel which is a bit quirky but in a relaxing and pleasant way. Would recommend it and come back again
