How to Get There
This is my 6th visit to the Xenia. My dad and I have a trip to London each year and we always stay here. It’s a beautiful, contemporary hotel, in a great location. The staff go above and beyond to help. Rooms are really nice and very clean. Breakfast is delicious. A big thank you to all of the team and especially Andrea Betton for helping me with the booking. I’d highly recommend it as a great base for a break in London. We are hoping to go back again in 2019. It’s such a lovely hotel with lovely staff.
Xenia is a boutique hotel, so the rooms range from closet size and moderately gets bigger. The first room we had, my suitcase took a majority of the space. But when you are in London, you should only be sleeping in your room right? The evening of our arrival, we received a lovely note from the front desk that they had discovered an issue with our room and was upgrading us. No problem, we had noticed it was a tad bit hot, but we were very appreciative they addressed it before we did. The next room, was larger and had a great view, I must say, I was impressed with the level of service and attention given by every one. The restaurant food was AMAZING, the drinks in the lounge, Amazing! I want to acknowledge the staff upon my arrival, my stay and my departure, you all made this trip a wonderful experience. I will however request the larger room on my next visit!
So, we waited prior to our visit to London for an invite to bunk at the Palace, since it wasn't forthcoming, he had to find alternative accommodations, and did we find a palace of another sort. Three years ago my daughter/sister stayed at the larger Marriott Kensington across the street from the Xenia, but at the time this property wasn't part of the Marriott brand. It's part of the Autograph Collection, a boutique hotel and is spectacular. Now in London rooms are smaller by US standards, and we had a small double under/at ground level. From the moment we arrived to departure four days later, we were treated like family. Not only does the staff recognize you by name throughout the hotel, in elevators, hall ways, restaurants, but they have a remarkable ability to not only address any concerns you may have but to anticipate your next request. We had an opportunity to meet Giacomo Battafarano (GM) several times and give him and his fantastic staff rave reviews. Whether you are a family traveling to London, or a business person looking for a base of operations in Kensington, do not overlook this gem. Take the best of Ritz Carlton, add a touch of the Plaza in its prime,
and you have one of the finest boutique hotels in London.
The Xenia hotel lived up to my expectations except for the small room. The quality of the room and bathroom was excellent, with a very comfortable bed and pillows. I have stayed in very small rooms before in Europe and New York, but never have I seen anything as small as the petit double. The only place to open suitcases is on the bed and so while sleeping we had to put them closed in front of the door. You have to walk sideways on either side of the bed to get in. If you are two people as we were, then I highly suggest you not choose this room and either pay for a larger room or go elsewhere. It is only suitable for a single traveler with little or no luggage. The lobby and restaurants are lovely. We did not eat at the hotel but had drinks and all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Xenia and would definitely stay there again when in London. The hotel staff is fantastic. Neil helped with booking restaurants (Thank you for the Zaika suggestion; the meal was fantastic) and Nico helped with local travel suggestions. I wish I remembered more names to mention; everyone was friendly and very helpful. The location is great; tube stations nearby or take a walk as we did to Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace with a stop at Harrods. Very easy ride from and to Heathrow via taxi. We ate at Evoluzione and savored a wonderful meal. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet every morning and had drinks while watching World Cup games in the bar and lounge area. The room was clean and comfortable albeit small. The hotel is worth every pound of what I consider a very reasonable price. We had a wonderful stay! Thank you
