How to Get There
This was my second stay here over the past 2 years. The hotel is still well kept and clean, as are the rooms. I was given an upgraded room with free minibar, so my room was a bit bigger than usual. Still, one would struggle to open a suitcase anywhere other than on the bed and you'd have to weave a bit to get around 2 or more suitcases to move about the room, so the rooms are quite small but that's what you'd expect in central London. The gym was nice and open from 0600-2300 - it had a few pieces of cardio and some weights, which was enough for me. The location is really good, less than 5 minutes walk from Paddington station and this is a big deal if you have an early flight. The staff were also quite friendly. I'd stay here again.
We had stayed at the Indigo Paddington several years ago and were impressed so we booked two stays of three days duration in November and December. When we got settled in our room the safe was in bad repair so we requested that it be fixed. Instead the hotel moved us to another room. This room was satisfactory except for the towel rack which was not functioning and given its minor nature we ignored the problem. When we returned in December, upon checking into our room we noticed that the bathroom had a very strong drain smell so we requested another room and were advised that the hotel was fully booked and they would address the issue. After 24 hours they had not looked into it so we made another request and were advised that housekeeping had referred the issue to maintenance and were promised some action. 24 hours again passed and when we returned to our room we noticed that housekeeping had sprayed the bathroom with deodorizer but the drain smell slowly returned. So for three days nothing was done. The staff at the Indigo is very friendly but I got the impression that problems are not being addressed and maintenance is being deferred. We are reluctant to book this hotel in the future.
We were given a good size room (?disabled friendly) downstairs with a door we could open onto a small area, which meant we could have fresh air and not air-con. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. We had an excellent breakfast. All the staff we met were friendly and efficient, and made our visit very pleasant.
For my 4 nights stay over the last week of Nov 2017 in Hotel Indigo-Paddington, I made a new friend (basically a bottle cap left by one of the previous occupants) whom I’ve named Sir Cappy-Tan - see photos!
He was waiting patiently for me in my room just under the little table by the mini chaise lounge. I only noticed this little neglected bottle cap because I had to shift the lounge and table to make room for my luggage as there was literally no space in the room to place my luggage and actually get on the bed.
So there he was, the little green plastic bottle cap, just waiting to say hi while he kept some toxic orange crumbs company. I was so sure put new friendship would only last the first night and he would be swept away to a new home, but to my great surprise (and disgust to be perfectly honest), Sir Cappy-Tan stayed with me for my entire stay, along with the crumbs. Basically that meant that the floors were not cleaned the entire time.
Asides from the “great” company, my little (and I mean tiny) room had a patio that resembled a prison yard. The room itself was really small even though I chose the pricier option thinking that I wold get more space from the standard rooms.
For some unexplainable reason, the duvet was smaller than the bed itself, so one had to sleep in the middle of the bed to actually get properly snuggled and covered.
The complimentary drinks in the fridge (still water, sparkling water, coke and coke lite) was great, but wasn’t topped up consistently. I was missing still water for 2 nights.
The bathroom was a decent size, pretty much half the size of the room. Towels went missing as the days went by and by the last night of my stay, I had no hand towels at all. Loved the rain shower, alas it was impossible to get the dripping to stop as the shower system had a tap that required one to turn left for rain shower and turn right for handheld shower. Getting it to the absolute centre to switch off the water completely was just ridiculous.
The ONLY thing this hotel has going for it is it’s location to Paddington Station. Other than that, it is probably the lowest value for money you can get at £280/night (patio room).
I stayed here overnight on October 15, 2018 for a morning train trip to Cardiff at the London Paddington Station. The hotel is within a very short walking distance to the London Paddington Station. The room was surprisingly quiet, and I slept well during the night. The staff was friendly & nice. There is also a lot of restaurants nearby. The entrance is a bit hard to find, when I got off the Taxi, so you have to look twice. I definitely would stay here again, if I am staying overnight to catch a train at the London Paddington Station.
