How to Get There
Stayed at the hotel many times and it never disappoints, great location near main rail stations and British museum but on a quite pleasant round. I would have no problem recommending this great hotel again.
Very clean, pleasant staff that were friendly. Rooms are smaller but well kept and the little bar in the lobby was a bargain. Great location especially if going to British Museum. Would stay there again.
We found the hotel very friendly but did get mislead over the cost of breakfast. We had this hotel break as a present and breakfast was not included as my daughter had found including it was complicated. On checking in we were told the cost of breakfast but was unaware that VAT was not included. We did on check out see there was a notice saying this. We found this quite expensive but there was plenty of choice, We both had the Continental breakfast and found it satisfying. We had a really nice large room and was surprised how quiet it was. However it was very drafty and the temperature control did not help. The bed was also very comfortable. We found all the staff friendly and an extra was the birthday cake and drink provided on arrival. This hotel has the advantage of being very central to the British museum and West End Theatres.
Paid £250 for one room one night without breakfast so this was not a cheap night away.
However the hotel was nice, clean, great room and friendly staff.
For the price I perhaps would have expected more but then at this time of year for anything half decent it’s probably within normal range.
My wife and I recently stayed at the Grange Beauchamp Hotel in the Bloomsbury area of London. After numerous visits to London staying at smaller independent hotels, we decided to splurge (at least as much as our budget will allow) and booked an executive double room at the Beauchamp. When we got into our room (007) I was disappointed in the size of it. It certainly was not as it appeared in the hotel pictures when I was deciding. I don’t think discrepancy was a result of a skilled photographer either. My advice for anyone booking an executive double to avoid this room if the extra room is important.
The hotel is very clean and modern and the front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. We had prepaid for the continental breakfast since the full English breakfast (what we usually get at other small London hotels as part of the room rate) is £23 per person! The continental breakfast is a mix of breads, cereals, meat, cheeses, and fruits. If you don’t get down early enough you will miss out on the fresher looking fruits. What remains after that is gone is less than appealing. The breakfast servers will give you your initial cup of coffee, but they do not come by for refills unless you flag them down, which can be quite irritating.
The location is great, less than a five minute walk to the British Museum and Russel Square tube station (on the Piccadilly line) and we have always gravitated to this part of London.
If you choose to stay here, you might skip the cost of the breakfast and walk over to the Cafe Tropea just across the street in Russel Square Gardens. Nice people, good food, and great setting for about £10 for breakfast.
I think this experience will take us back to the smaller hotels that may have a bit smaller rooms, but you get more for your money.
