How to Get There
Stayed here for a concert at alexandra palace was really clean and nice to stay in an apartment rather than hotel! The hotel had bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. We stayed in the room with balcony which was nice touch.
Do not be put off by the Google Street View of the apparent location on Goodwin Street. This is only the registration office.
The actual apartment we had was located a couple of hundred yards away in Fonthill Road. Accessed through a key card security system the apartment on the second floor was scrupulously clean and modern, albeit in a small way. It contained everything you need for a short stay. The beds, one in a bedroom and the other a wall mounted pull down sofabed, were both extremely comfortable. The location was ideal for our purpose giving easy access to our son accommodation as well as to central London.
I had a serviced apartment for 3 weeks. The customer service is clearly explained and efficient. I arrived after hours and collected my key from a dropbox. One problem I had with the washing machine was resolved that day.
The studio apartment was on the quiet side of the building. The heating worked quickly and the television was huge. I could and did open the windows. The decor fittings and appliances are modern, working and clean. I appreciated the power points beside the bedside tables for charging devices without scrambling around the skirting boards.Wifi was reliable and fast.
The location is fantastic if you want to save money by staying in zone 2, as it's 5 minutes from the tube station which is serviced by Piccadilly and Victoria lines, giving you a choice of many central London destinations. The area is run down but not at all scary. Lots of restaurant and coffee choices and a huge park for the summer months.
The 'serviced' part is once a week, although mine was about every 5 days.
Don't book if you have trouble getting a suitcase up narrow stairs. I found it difficult but it was only at the beginning of my stay.
My family recently stayed at Finsbury Serviced Apartments and we were generally very satisfied with our choice. Our apartment was maybe smaller than I had anticipated but, knowing how small hotel rooms in London generally are, the size was certainly enough for us (2 adults and 2 kids). The standard of room/utilities was great.
We liked the neighborhood with its short access to the tube and the selection of shops for snacks and drinks and restaurants/take away. I've read reviews that claim that there are few eating options near the apartments but we found a ton! Right on the corner was a local bakery with fresh bread and pastries that we bought breakfast at one morning and just up the street past the tube station is a great pub. We brought KFC back to the apartment for dinner after a long day of sightseeing and bought amazing cupcakes and cookies at another local bakery. All within a short walk of the apartment!
Our only complaint was the noise. My husband and son were completely unaffected by it but my daughter and I had trouble falling asleep because of the traffic noise. If this is something that you react to, I would still recommend these apartments - just bring earplugs! :-)
I booked for one night for a work meeting. Our studio was at the top of a lot of stairs, which wasn't easy with cases. Everything was quite new. There was a mini kitchen, compact shower room, bed, wardrobe, table and chairs for two. Everything was reasonable quality and the location 10 mins from Finsbury Park tube was handy. Though there are not really any restaurants or pubs in the area - just an express supermarket. The staff member who checked me in suggested I contact her direct next time (I'd booked through a travel site) and indicated she could give me a good deal. However when I contacted her later about another booking she more or less denied having said this and offered me a worse rate than before! So I wouldn't stay again on this basis.
