How to Get There
On arrival found TV not working in room and needed to be replaced. I was expected to sit there with the maintenance chap doing the job which he said would take half an hour. Phoned reception to be told no other rooms available. Had to get "annoyed" with reception for them to understand that it was not acceptable for me to have to sit in a room whilst maintenance was being done. They eventually found me another room which was pleasant on surface but boiling hot with no AC and windows which did not open. Like sleeping in a sauna. Final straw ... tried to make tea in morning. No kettle. Hot water from coffee machine just gives coffee flavoured and coloured water from the dregs not cleaned out of machine. Room needs a kettle- why leave teabags without one?
It's the simple things you need when you book a hotel room ..... no one else in your room, fresh air, a pleasant ambient temperature and a cup of tea in the morning. Call me fussy but if that's hard for a hotel to achieve then I'd look elsewhere. It's not like there isn't plenty of choice.
Our first stay at this hotel, but wanted to stay in this area & this was the best4/5 star deal. The hotel has a very British old world charm & overall is well maintained. We were in a room which seemed in the corner of the hotel which hadn’t been decorated as recently as the rest! However the room & Bathroom were of a good side, nicely furnished & very clean.
The Bar on the ground floor is beautiful but with only one Batman it was difficult to be seated or served. But worth a visit, if you find space!
Great Location, overall a good experience.
The hotel is in a good spot near centre. Stuff was very polite and the room was clean (but very old and un-refurbished). The biggest con that I faced there was that I couldn't enjoy my sleep there and that is the exact reason why I booked a room to stay in London for a day. The problem is that because the building is very old (at least the section that I stayed), the floor on of the upper floor was making strong and LOUD noises whenever somebody was passing / walking and as result these noises where passed in my room. I would not recommend this hotel for this high price.
Morning Coffee and a drink in the bar area in a leather back chair quite relaxing in a high class well run hotel. What one would expect from a hotel in the the centre of London, worth a visit when you get the chance.
Rooms are a bit quaint by perfectly comfortable, and you can't beat the location (mind you we're partial to Marylebone). Just a block from Marylebone High street and great shops and places to eat, 5 minutes walk to Baker Street tube, around the corner from the Wallace Collection and a couple blocks from Oxford Street. Durrants has a lot of little sitting rooms on the ground floor where you can meet friends over a glass.
