We regularly stay here a few times per year. This hotel is very traditional English Country House in decor and warm and inviting in cold weather. Yet again we had a lovely time. We received an upgrade and enjoyed a lovely room which was vey comfortable and an easy route from reception. We spent some time in the bar due to the cold weather outside (!), enjoying drinks and coffees. The staff were exemplary and kept adding logs to the real open fire so it was very warm and cosy. We asked for an iron and ironing board and this was bought to the room quickly. All the staff were very polite and friendly. The breakfast menu was extensive and with large portions. I loved the presentation of the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, which showed thought and care behind the cooking of the food. We will continue to stay at this hotel when we are in London as it is also very easy to access Oxford Street and extensive shopping. An excellent stay and welcome.
I've stayed here twice in the last two months, once for business and once for leisure. It looks traditional and it is traditional, with log fires, old etchings on the walls and panelled rooms downstairs. The location is extremely good, only ten minutes' walk from Baker Street or Bond Street tubes and Oxford Street. Also opposite the fabulous Wallace Collection, for art lovers. At the weekend the room rate was very reasonable for a hotel of this quality. Both times I was given a recently-refurbished room, with tasteful furnishings and a comfortable bed. On the first occasion, I dined alone in the restaurant and enjoyed a delicious home-made steak and kidney pudding. The second time, I found excellent local cafes and restaurants for lunch and dinner. The hotel bar is small but cosy, although surprisingly stocked only three well-known brands of gin - in an age where boutique gins are very popular this seems like playing it too safe. I wouldn't have minded the price tag if I hadn't had to settle for Hendricks and Schweppes tonic!
This was our second stay at this charming hotel and we were not disappointed. We hope to be back in 2019! The staff are very friendly and helpful and there was a welcoming log fire in the Entrance Hall. Our room on the second floor was tastefully furnished and decorated and warm and the bed very comfortable.
There is a cosy bar downstairs where we enjoyed meeting friends.
The hotel is very convenient for Marylebone High Street shops and the West End.
We only had breakfast in the hotel but it was delicious.
Hotels, Fine Cafes are an extension of our personalities, we are all very different so hence so is our taste in them. Call me old-fashioned, no I am not, but Durrants Hotel is certainly an extension of my personality.
I first found the utterly delightful hotel just before Christmas and was in such a rush that I did not have the time to venture in, today I did, and I was overwhelmed. I sat in the small bar which just feels like you have been transported back to 1790, its fine leather chairs just adds to the atmosphere, and the real log fire is just a must to sit by and enjoy that Kaffee. Durrants, you made me very welcome and I shall certainly be back
