Disappointing for a Hilton.

First visit to this property and there were some problems that should not have occurred. We arrived late morning as had transferred from a hotel in North London. Left single suitcase and sundries with very helpful concierge.

Returned after 3PM and room was not ready. Completed checkin formalities. We were given vouchers for free cocktails and enjoyed large wines in the bar. At 350PM we were shown to room 607 on ground floor. Oh dear! Obscured glass windows so room very dim and depressing - not acceptable for a 2 night stay. Complained and shown another similar space - equally unacceptable. Finally shown room 210 -OK. Room overlooked the street on 2nd floor. Very large bathroom with big shower, all in good order but waste basket not fully empty although nothing of concern apart from some tissues. There was a heated towel rail, but the room was very cold and needs underfloor heating. There was some comment that room 210 required some stair access and this was why we were not offered this initially! However other rooms also required use of stairs.

I had checked in via the APP previously and room 607 had been offered, but due to the nature of the hotel - old building and unconventional layout it is impossible to evaluate a room without prior knowledge as room numbers are necessarily connected to the actual hotel "level" as is the norm.
We left our room before 10AM next day, posting the "clean room" card. Returned just before 4PM and room had not been serviced. Advised that servicing continued until 6PM. Room was immediately serviced after complaint.

Large flat screen TV. Tea and coffee makings. safe. Ironing equipment. All in good order.

We may comment that the customer facing staff were excellent and responsive to our input.

The hotel has obviously undergone refurbishing but the rooms are unpredictable and a number somewhat nasty. The hotel location is superb in the proximity of Selfridges and Oxford street. The hotel checkout time is 12PM and a posted checkin of 3PM.There is no excuse for the room not to be ready by this time.

Free wifi of a good standard.

Everyone has their own "thing" about hotels of course, but if you do stay here be prepared to check out the rooms allocated. Because of the unsatisfactory experience we had we did not avail of any further hotel facilities.

We really expected much better from this well located hotel.
We stayed four nights at this hotel with friends. The first room that we were given was on the basement, noisy and dusty ,difficult to breath in!
We were given a new tiny room where the air condition was not working despite their effort to fix it during those three days.
Our friends had to change rooms two times!
We were given the impression that we deserved no more, and no effort was made on their part to please us what so ever!
The staff at the dining room was gracious and helpful .

Apart from a great location I don’t really have anything positive to say about this hotel.
From the receptionist trying to charge us three times more than the price of our stay to dated decor and the worst Hilton room I’ve stayed in, it’s just under par.
Our room was tucked in a corner so was quiet. View was breeze blocks and a pipe. The room was freezing, took over 24 hours to warm up. No radiator in bathroom so it was very cold and towels damp after first use.
And cleaners didn’t take away rubbish.
Won’t be returning in a hurry.

Pleasant stay, nice clean hotel and within walking distance of many places to visit and see. Good transport connections nearby and had a nice stay here. Breakfast was very nice and included in our stay. Front of house staff very nice and attentive.

Dear Hilton,

My girlfriend and I wanted a nice spot for a romantic get away and chose this hotel because of the nice location and the fact that Hilton is a synonym for quality. The location was good but that is all the good we have to say about The DoubleTree by Hilton L. As we arrived our room was ready however not at all as promised in the description or the pictures shown own your own website. The Junior deluxe suite of 50 sqm was split in two floors with a poorly maintained staircase (risk of slipping), the toilet room door was so low that I had to duck to get through (im 180 cm) and overall the room was dark and gloomy due to the matted out windows. We went to reception to change room and they said that everything else was fully booked but that we could see another Junior Deluxe Suite the day after, hoping that we were just very unlucky with the first Junior Suite we saw. Then coming back (at 5 pm) on the second day, to get one of the other Junior Suites that we had booked, we where told that there was no other room for us (as otherwise promised) and we found that no house keeping had been done in our current room after we had been away for the entire day :(. Instead of waiting for house keeping we asked for another room (still smaller than what we paid for!). In this room we found that the shower switched from hot to cold every 5 seconds which we couldn’t do anything about and this room was very noisy due to a ventilator just outside the room. In addition the furniture was of poor quality and kept in place with ducktape. All in all a far less than good experience; we stayed in 3 different rooms during the three days we where there!
We have another reservation with Hilton which we have already booked but I’m not sure if it is worth our while.
